I just installed win7 pro onto a lenovo ideapad s207. I also downloaded all the drivers from lenovo and installed those. It won't let me connect to my network saying 'Windows did not detect any networking hardware'
I've installed the wwan driver, and in Services and Applications under WLAN autoconfig its says its started and startup type is auto. What else do I need to do?
I don't see a S207 listed on the support site. Can you post the url where you downloaded the driver? Is it 32 or 64 bit Win7?Quote:

WWAN is usually stuff like 3G cards, not Wifi. You should be looking for WLAN or Wireless LAN instead.Quote:

This is where I downloaded all the drivers. Device manager does say that no driver is installed for the network adaptor. Its win7 64 bit. Actually it does look like the only driver is win8 - worth a try?
So it's a S206, not a S207?
What do you mean Win8? I see 2 drivers for Win7 under Wireless LAN.

I tried both of those drivers, neither of them do it. I'll try installing everest and see if I can identify the hardware.

Are these the files you installed? The US site looks a little different than the UK site.

OK, I tried those but no change. Would it be worth posting the hunt for drivers in the hardware forum?
I can move this thread to Hardware if you want. If you can get the PCI ID, that would help.
I didn't understand the pc id thing. I didn't even know i had a pci device - I thought it would be more modern than that. Certainly I couldn't see how to use that site to get specific info - I can put in Lenovo and get back a mountain of options.
Did you install the CHIPSET drivers from the link you posted above? They are the mobo drivers that are needed to help communicate with the other devices.
Yes, I did. I've done quite a lot of clean installs and I thought I knew the drill, but this one has me stumped so far. I'm struggling to believe that even a fairly new model could have a network adaptor without win7 drivers available.
Just to be sure I've re-downloaded and reisntalled the chipset driver. It popped out a report when it was done which is here.
Any clues there? I'd do a windows reinstall again but I can't see what it would gain.
When I run across a situation like this, I:
- plug in a little USB WiFi adapter that I do have a driver for (on a USB key)
- Go to Windows Update and download/install everything offered, (except Bing).
Ninety-some odd percent of the time that solves all of the missing driver problems.
Did you go to http://www.pcidatabase.com/ ? It tells you how to get the PCI info under PCI Viewers and utilities . The PCI ID will give the vendor info, so you can then look up the drivers.
The Windows update method might also work.

I did have one of those wireless usb thingys hiding in a drawer, so I went ahead with this plan. It took several hours but eventually declared itself finished and all is well.
