I receive a message at the top of a webpage that says some plugins used by this page are out of date. When I click on the update plugins box next to this message, it opens another webpage that checks my plugins. It shows that shockwave flash and java development toolkit are out of date. The version of shockwave flash I have on my system says 11.6. Why am I getting this update plugins message box? How should I proceed to fix this?
There is no Shockwave Flash 11.6. The latest stable release is 11.2. Are you sure it's not Shockwave for Director?Quote:

Do you use the Java Dev Toolkit? If not, I'd remove it. You might need to update your java JRE/JDK depending on what version you use.
Midknyte, I opened my revo uninstaller and it shows that I have adobe shockwave player 11.6. I wasn't aware that I had java dev toolkit on my system. How do I delete it?
Also, I noticed that when I go on aol and click on a news article from aol's homepage, it seems to take a long time to completely open up the page. It almost seems like my system is going to lock up until it finally opens the page. That issue sounds like it is linked to this flashplayer issue?
ADD/Remove or use Revo to get rid of it.
Shockwave Flash and Shockwave Player are different. Shockwave Player would be the Director plugin.

You didn't say which version of Java you are running and if it's the JRE or the JDK. This article is a little old, but it helps you find the plugin files to remove.

I have two Shockwave add-ons installed--Shockwave ActiveX Control and Shockwave Flash Object. The former is version 11.6; the latter is version 11.2.
I am confused. How do I know which version of Java I am running and whether it is JRE or JDK?
Midknyte, I tried removing the Java deployment toolkit from the link you provided. After I found out which folder the npdeployjava1.dll file was located, I just deleted it. When I type about:plugins in a new tab window, there is still a java deployment toolkit entry listed. It now says the npdeployjava1.dll file is located in Java\bin\new_plugin folder. How come it says that the file is still on my system after I deleted it?
Wouldn't just disabling the java deployment toolkit plugin be the same as just deleting the file?
I am also confused on how to update the latest version of flash. There is 3 links listed for the internet explorer browser and 2 links for the plug-in based browser. How do I determine which link and which browser I need to update flash to v 11.2?
Java has multiple files, so you may need to delete it in more than one place.
It should tell you if you have the JRE or JDK in the control panel/applications. Or just look in the program files\Java folder. If you see a JDK### folder, then you have the JDK. Otherwise you'd just see a jre6 or whatever version you installed. BTW, the JDK includes the JRE.
If it's not IE, then it's a plugin based browser (Firefox, Opera). Chrome already has Flash built-in. You didn't say which browser you are using. 32 or 64 bit? You would just need the .exe version for whichever browse you have.Quote:

Again, you didn't say which version of Java you installed, so it's hard for me to give specifics. The file names/locations are slightly different depending if you have Java 6 or 7, and then which update version you have.

Sorry that it took me so long to reply back. I was away for a few days. I tried again updating my adobe flash to version 11.2 and as I said in one of my other posts with this newest 11.2 version of flash, there is an audio issue when using programs with cams such as yahoo messenger, skype, etc. The audio is very distorted so I went back to version 10.1 again and the audio issues were back to normal. I will be continuing to use flash 10.1 until adobe corrects this issue with a newer version.
I have the most current version of shockwave player which is 11.6.
I updated my java to the current version 7 update 4 which I had jre version. It installed that darn java deployment toolkit again. It is listed when I click on firefox add-ons. How can I delete this again? Can I just click disable from the add-ons window? Would that be the same as just deleting/uninstalling the program? What is the best way to delete this java deployment toolkit and how do I do it?
Also, I have been noticing lately that when I open virtualdr.com or click any pages on virtualdr's website, it takes a long time until each page completely/fully opens. At the bottom left of the page, it says ...."connecting to www.fastping-uptime.com....". What is causing virtualdr's pages to take some time to completely load?
Also, I am looking at the list of my firefox add-ons page and I don't know what some of them are and if I need them. Does anyone know what EPAfactory endpoint analysis plugin and getplusplus for adobe plugin?
Everytime you install an update, it will reinstall the toolkit.
Did you look at the link I posted on How To Remove The Java Deployment Toolkit From Firefox? Yes, it's a little old, but the same methods should work. In later versions, they changed the name of the file to npdeployJava1.dll instead of npdeploytk.dll. Setting the plugin.expose_full_path to true should show you what file to remove.

You can try just disabling it if you want, but I prefer to clean it out.
Not sure about the loading problem. You could block that domain with Adblock Plus or sometime similar.
getplusplus is related to Adobe reader, but it's not required. Not sure what the other one is. It probably got loaded with app you loaded. You can always try disabling them and see what happens.

I deleted the file npdeployjava1.dll in the java folder. Actually I had 3 npdeployjava1.dll files on my system when I did a search and deleted all 3. After I opened my firefox browser again, I still see the java deployment toolkit plugin listed in my plugin list in firefox. How come the plugin didn't get removed after deleting those npdepoly... files?
Also, I noticed that I have a windows presentation foundation plugin and a yahoo application state plugin listed. I don't even know what these are. I suppose I should disable them?
I disabled the getplusplug for adobe plugin because I have no clue what that is.
Train, I still have no clue what that EPA Factory plugin is. It sounds like something I should keep from what you posted or can it be disabled?
Oh, I forgot to say that when I did a search for npployjava1.dll file, besides the 3 files that I said it found and I deleted, a fourth file came up but was located in the C:\windows\system32 folder. I didn't delete that file yet. I suppose that is why the toolkit plugin is still listed in my firefox browser? I suppose I should delete that file from the system32 folder, as well? I appreciate all the help.
So did you set plugin.expose_full_path to true in FF? That should tell you exactly which file to remove.
It's possible they changed the file name again. Still have to use Java6 for one of my work apps, so I'll have to check it out on a VM later.

The yahoo thing seems to be associated with yahoo messenger. Do you use that?
With questionable addons, I'd disable it and see how it goes. If you find you don't need them, then remove. More addons usually slow down your browser.

Something just doesn't seem right. First, I am not sure why I have problems using the adobe flash player 11. The issue I have is that when I talk to friends and family with their cam, the audio is very choppy like it skips and I can hardly hear what they are saying. That is the reason why I had to go back to using flash 10. I don't think I am alone in having this issue but I don't don't think it occurs with everyone using version 11. I am not sure why I have this issue.
Another issue is firefox doesn't seem the way it used to be. When I open firefox, I have tab windows saved that it will open certain websites every time I run firefox. It seems that when I click on a tab, the page window of the tab in blank for a few seconds until the website page completely opens. I never had this issue before. Every time I would click on a tab in the past, the webpage would be there to view immediately without waiting seconds for it to finish opening.
Also, when I mentioned about when I use this website (virtualdr), it seems like it takes a bit until the page is finished opening. I see the firefox icon at top spinning much longer than it used to until the page is completely opened.
I am not sure what is causing these issues that I haven't had before. I did a microsoft update a few weeks ago which might be the cause. When I cliced on my plugins and noticed that I had numerous plugins listed that I don't even know what they are is probably from the microsoft updates. I just did disable the ones that I wasn't sure what they were but the firefox issue that I mentioned above is still occurring. I am confused but this issue is annoying.

Do you see the same problems in Firefox when running Firefox in Safe mode?If so, how about when running Windows in "Safe mode with networking?"
SpywareDr, I ran both safe mode and safe mode with networking. I have numerous tab windows open when I open firefox. In safe mode, some of my tab windows did not open. It said server not found when I clicked on some of the tab windows when trying to open some websites but after I refreshed the page, it would open. I am not sure why that occurred. The virtualdr.com issue was the same with both that it takes a long time for the webpage in virtualdr.com to finish/complete opening the webpage.
I do see after rebooting back into windows in normal mode, after I click on each tab window, it finishes opening the webpage (only after I click on the tab for each webpage), and then, it seems that this issue doesn't happen anymore except the virtualdr.com issue where it takes a long time for the page to finish opening.
My computer is running 24/7 but I do reboot it every other day or so. I leave my firefox browser up with all my tab windows running on my computer even when I am not at the computer. Also, I just noticed that after I walked away from my computer for awhile and came back, I clicked on the tab windows on my firefox browser and it did the same thing as before. The page is blank for a few seconds and then it opens up the webpage of that tab. It is as if I refreshed the page even though I didn't. I wanted to update this info, as well.
Another thing I just noticed that I wanted to say is that when I said that when I come back to the computer and click on a tab window and the window is blank for a seconds and then the webpage opens up. I know I said it is as if the page is reloading. It isn't exactly the same as if the page is reloading because after a tab window opens up the page, I clicked the reload icon at top of browser to reload the page and it is not the same info on the webpage as before. So, it isn't exactly the same as if the page is reloading as I said as if the page was doing that. I just want to give as much info as I can which might help in fixing this issue. I hope this is easy to follow and you know what I am trying to say. :)

SpywareDr, I always had the as many tabs opened in the past as I do now and this problem wasn't an issue before. I noticed that even when I log into AOL and I click on a link from the homepage, the webpage seems like it take a bit longer than it should until it completely finishes opening the page. I just ran the speed test again using the website you posted and DL was 5.48 Mbps. I ran a speed test using another website (speedtest.net) and DL was 14.37 Mbps. Why such a big difference in DL results?
I also, wanted to say that when I don't have a lag when I surf the web and click on websites and surf through pages of a website.
Does the same problem occur if you temporarily connect your computer to a different internet connection? If so, the problem is with your computer. If not, then it's your internet connection.Quote:

Had to do that for a couple clients yesterday.
I unplugged the modem power and retested it and there is a difference again in results. On the speed test that I mentioned (speedtest.net), there is a green begin test icon and below that is a green arrow. When I click on the begin test icon, that usually gives me a DL of 11.38 but when I click on the green arrow below and run the test, the DL is around 4.39. Which icon should I be selecting and why would it give that big of a difference in results depending on which green icon you click on to begin the test?

Train, below is my results. You have great DL and UL speeds. The speeds of the plan I am paying for is 12 Mbps DL and 1 Mbps UL. I am not receiving even close that DL speed. This might explain the lag I am experiencing lately. This only started to occur the past few weeks. I guess I will have to contact my ISP provider and see what BS they tell me.

SpywareDr, I was selecting new york when I ran the other tests from the other speedtest sites and it always gave me a low download result. I did run the test using the one on their website and I called them and they told me that the new york selection is messed up and always gives inaccurate results. They told me to recycle my router which hasn't been done in a long time. Perhaps, recycling my router helped some. It seems better but not like it used to be. The tech rep said that having a router connected to a computer slows down the speed, as well. I told her that I always used a router on my computers and never noticed a difference in speed.
