Working on older dell with less than gig memory. When booting into windows getting the error "system has no paging file". When going to advanced tab and setting it after reboot still get the error
If the hard drive is almost full there may not be enough room for Windows to create a paging file.

How are you setting it?
Are you allowing Windows to manage it automatically or setting the parameters yourself?
If the former try the latter (eg- min 200megs, max 999megs, don't forget to click "set").
If the latter try the former.

Check that the pagefile is definitely located on the C: drive (or any internal drive), and that it hasn't been put on a external drive.

Did you try that fix in the KB article that SpywareDr linked to? If so, and it hasn't helped, get your WinXP CD handy, then go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes (you don't get any report from the System File Checker, it just silently replaces and corrupt or missing system files that it finds).
On the spywaredr comment on step 4 about the security tab ,This machine shows no security tab

It is an intel chip and it might be the prob but the first link to resolve the problem is no good now. I tryed the link before and it is not there anymore
