What happens/doesn't happen when you click the printer icon?
Nothing happens for any of those icons. This is so unreal....
greendesert--If this is happening with all .pdf files, I think I would uninstall Reader X and then reinstall. (and if you install Reader X over an older version of Reader uninstall that also)
Assuming this started only recently and when you installed Reader X, you could also run a System Restore.
Actually, Reader X has some serious issues, and this is one of them. If you can get the installer for Reader 8 or 9, that would be a better choice.
Or dump Adobe Reader and go with
Foxit Reader

or my favorite
PDF-XChange Viewer

This was also my impression. This is a fresh install of win 7 x64. It works on another fresh install of win 7 x64 home on my laptop. I have already uninstalled by revo uninstaller and installed it again after a fresh download. Seems its time to look for different option now.
Okay, I tried both foxit reader and pdf xchange viewer and going with the latter. Did not want to do away with adobe reader but have to.
Is there any settings which can make the pdf files open in the browser itself ? The IE 9 comes up with a windows asking me to save or open and if I open it, it comes up in a new pdf xchange application?
To open the .pdf in a browser window, you need a plugin for the browser to do this. Adobe Reader X has one, but that is one of the issues. If you use it, it sometimes takes 2-3 minutes for the .pdf file to open, or sometimes it won't open at all. There is a setting in Adobe Reader X that you can use to turn this option off, and then the .pdf opens in an Adobe Reader X window. I don't know if there are any plugins that are available for non-Adobe .pdf readers.
There were times when adobe reader won't open in the browser ....
Adobe is a PITA.
Try this map in .pdf.
ftp://ftp.dot.state.pa.us/public/pdf...se_pdf2011.pdf
Now you may need to browse to .pdf on your hdd and use open with to set the file association to PDF-xchange after adobe messed thing up.
already uninstalled adobe reader and changed the file association. I have adobe on my other desktop and laptop till it works fine. Once it messes up, it bbye.
Notice how much of your resources that adobe uses. Yeah, it tries to take over and slows down a computer. :(
:confused:
I have a 337 page .PDF file loaded in Adobe Reader X. Total "Mem Usage" for both "AcroRd32.exe"'s in Windows Task Manager is "59,180 K". I also see four other programs running that are using, in some cases, quite a bit more:
"firefox.exe" = "147,028 K"
"acad.exe" = "124,960 K"
"mbamservice.exe" = "107,252 K"
"MsMpEng.exe" = "71,792 K"
Gotten better I see.
