I noticed that my cpu is running at 50% or more. I dont think that sounds right. Is there something I should do
Guess you should know I am running windows 7 amd athlon dual 6400, 4 gigs ram
In the Task Manager>Processes tab make sure that CPU & CPU Time columns are selected (View>Select Columns). Click twice on the CPU column header and that will put the process that is using the most CPU cycles at the top. Make sure that "Show processes from all users" is checked. Ignore System Idle Process, a high value for that is a good thing. Post back what process(es) is/are using the CPU cycles.
presentationfontcash, systemidle something.hard to read super sparks
Navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local, and then send all of the files starting with "FontCache..." to the recycle Bin. Then reboot the PC and see if that fixes things.
sorry after localservice dont have folder for appdata
Make sure that you have Windows Explorer set to show hidden files and folders.
have all that and still no appdata
all the folders in localservice have no data
Yake ownership

now see if things show up.
Sorry not getting many results from here on ownership..getting access denied
Use Windows Task Manager ([Ctrl][Alt][Del]) to terminate "presentationfontcache.exe".
Did that (terminate) but cpu at idle still shows around 50%
Which program(s)/process(es) is(are) using 50%?
Download this set of utilities:
Sysinternal Suite
then run Process Explorer, whioch should give you even more detail about what is hogging the CPU cycles. It doesn't need to be installed, just double-click the "procexp.exe" file.
Have 2 iexplore.exe and 1 is using 31000 k's
MsMpEng is using 57000
svhost is using 60000
If IE is open, there will be 2 listed. If it is closed and still listed, then use task manager to to shut it shut it down.
MsMpEng - part of MSE {Microsoft Security Essentials}
svhost if that is not a typo, then you have a nasty. So follow all the instructions at

That was svchost and there are 9 there
Normal and I have 12 running.
Now, in Process explore mouse over each svchost and a popup will show you what services each is running. Or you can double click the line abd when the applet shows up, select the services tab and you now have a list of them.
Single click each line and below the services box you will see a description for service.
