[RESOLVED] Adobe Flash
I have two IE Explorer applications on my Program list. Which is 32bit and which is the 64bit browser and how can I access the 32bit browser. I understand Adobe Flash will not install on a 64bit browser but will install on a 32bit. I have not been able to download and install the latest 10.2 flash application even thought Control Panel shows flash installed. As always, TIA.

One should be called "Internet Explorer" which is the 32-bit one, and the other should be called "internet Explorer (64 bit)", which is the 64-bit one, obviously.
If, for some reason they have been renamed, right-click and choose Properties, then in the "Target" box, the 32-bit one should have a "Program Files (x86)" path, and the 64-bit one should have a plain "Program Files" path.

buf --There is a Flash for 64 bit IE, but it is beta (for six months already) and it is called Square.

However, for the moment there are few advantages to running IE 64 bit, so little advantage to running Square.

Thanks for your answer Nick. That is exactly what I have.

Jim, I presently have installed: Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 64bit installed but for some reason clicking on a flash link, I don't get to see the contents. I am pretty sure I once had and used the "Square" feature and flash worked; at least I think I had it. And I am now running the 32 bit but still without any success.
Check this link to see if you can open it: http://www.wimp.com/throwstick/
When I try to open it, I am greeted with the message that I need the latest flash installed. I do not recall ever having difficulty in installing flash :(

The video plays fine on mine (it's pretty funny :D ).
Do you have NoScript installed at all? You will get that "no flash installed" message until you whitelist the site if you do.
-
buf--There seems to be another Player involved with that site.

I did not consciously install it, so it must come with the site.
What bit IE browser are you using?
When you say you have Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 64bit installed, do you mean Square?
-
Nick, I may never get to see the vid in the link I posted. I just can't install Flash. Well, my Control Panel shows it installed as Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX but it just doesn't open the link. After many tries it still would not open the link so in my disgust I used the removal tool on it.

Jim I really do appreciate your efforts to help me but, as shown above, nothing was helping. I even kept getting an AOL window with all it's garbage on it. I haven't had AOL on any machine of mine in many years. Adobe kept offering Google at Adobe's download site and a McAfee offering!! I guess I must have lost my cool after trying so many times to simply download and install the latest flash(10.3) so I finally removed all of the Adobe stuff. Guess I won't be seeing any flash offerings until I regain my senses.
Oh square was removed long ago when I learned that IE9 and 64bit would not run on flash. (I seem to recall some conversation you and I had about Square in another forum) Now what the Internet Explorer 64bit thing was all about, I don't know but Internet Explorer (64bit) is shown in my list of Programs and also Internet Explorer. I am one more  computer user.

Try installing Chrome, which has Flash baked into it. Then at least you will have something that will play your vids.

BTW, I just tried that vid in a default installation of Chrome and it played fine in it :)

You just do not give up, do you Nick!!! I for one am thankful that people like you don't give up on problems people like me have. Yep, I mean that!! :D
Thanks for your suggestion of using Chrome. I alleviated my problems with Flash by installing FF 3.6. I had "played" with FF a couple of weeks ago for a few days and 'almost' learned to like it. For now, it is fine.
Just for the heck of it, my wife has the identical PC as I and I checked her Flash installs. She has,and I now have, Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX, and the plug in and Adobe AIR. She does still use IE8 and she has no trouble.
I will be marking my thread as solved but because of the above findings.

Well, I missed using IE so I am now back and using IE9. Flash still will not work on this machine and I just don't understand why it won't. Am thinking about removing IE9 and let IE8 reinstall. I wasn't having any trouble with flash and IE8 that I recall. I only installed IE9 because MS so highly recommend it. I went to Old Versions and found IE8, downloaded and saved it just in case but then I read the MS notice about removing IE9 and IE8 would automatically re-appear as the installed browser. Any reasons why I should not do this??
-
Only that IE9 is a bit more secure than IE8. But as long as you are careful, IE8 should still be OK for a while.
-
buf--I do not find IE8 at oldversions.com, rather nothing later than IE7. I doubt that will run on Win7. Over at http://www.oldapps.com/internet_explorer.php I find IE8, but that is the version for Vista and earlier. That may or may not run on Win7. And that is the version you can get from Microsoft

You're right Jim. I failed to mention that Old Version referred me to oldapps. At any rate, I used the MS tool found here to revert me back to IE8:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...net-explorer-9 NOW I have IE8 installed and Flash is NO problem. More thanks for your continued interest. Now this is really a solved problem.
-
And for your continued support and help, I thank you Nick. For now my problem with Flash is over. Some day I may learn what was not allowing Flash to work with IE9. Now I have to acclimate myself again. Just glad to have Flash back and working as it should.
Now this thread is truly resolved.

Good news, I'm glad you got it working in the end :)
