Event Id: 7026 hangs computer

I have been at this for days now and I don't know what else to do. First off here is the other thread I started earlier that I hope someone will delete. This is just some back ground on trouble computer

When I go into safe mode under admin. the event view had this error:

what does all of this mean? I use to have an internet connection in safe mode but that has disappeared as well as my windows firewall. My antivirus was my vault so in short my laptop has no protection at the moment.

I have tried:
booting in safe mode
anti spyware scan
system restore
last known good config.
msconfig
services.msn
CCleaner
Spybot Search and Destroy with errors
sfc /scannow

BTW, windows loads very slowly especially when you click on something or go to control panel. The most recent error message is
IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

for some reason I get the balloon saying my firewall is not on( have tried to enable it but get the ICS error, and I have no anti virus installed,which is true.

I'd test the RAM with both of the following:

• Memtest86 - A Stand-alone Memory Diagnostic

• Windows Memory Diagnostic
  http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Let each one run a while. (I usually let them run overnight). If you see any errors, especially if in both programs, replace the RAM.

PS - There is no software that can fix broken hardware.

thanks for the link. I wan't sure if it was a hardware problem that is why I went through all those steps. I am really starting to believe it is my RAM because I have turned system restore back on 3 times now and it won't stay on.

I tried to make a bootable cd of the memory test but it didn't run so have to figure out what I did wrong. Thanks again.

Download UBCD and burn it to CD, it has all the memory testing utilities on it plus many more useful tools besides:

ok, I went into bios after burning the cd ,ISO image and all using sonic software and set it to load from my cd first but nothing is happening when i turn my pc on.It still boots into windows.What am I doing wrong? Thanks again for your help athough I would have taken your word for bad ram being my problem,lol

thanks for all the help but sadly to say even with the links that were posted, I am still unable to get my laptop to boot from cd, I even disabled the hard drive. But I did turn down my hardware acceleration to none androlled back my ATA storage driver controller and was able to move around the desktop awhile before it gave me the blue death screen error. I even got this added to the blue screen this time tcpip.sys.

I used Roxio to biurn my cd but the system keeps telling me that there is no bootable cd in the drive. Thanks again for all the help.

Do you have a Windows CD - not a manufacturer's restore CD? If so, you can try booting with that. Don't do anything else with it, just see if the machine will boot using it. If it does, then there is a problem with the CD you made. If it doesn't, then you have a problem booting from the CD drive.

the problems seems to indeed be the cd that I made. And to think I wanted to go to school to work on computers,lol

I have tried to make a bootable cd on cdr and cd-rws. When trying to make such ,does it matter what kind of cd is used?

Just so long as your cd/dvd device can see the brand, you should be OK.

My experience when trying to boot from CR-RWs is that they usually don't work. CR-Rs are usually better.

i finally got it to work,I am running the Windows Memory Diagnostic program and have set it to extended test. Will post back the results. Thanks so much!

I stopped the memory test at 8:30 this morning. I got a new error message after trying to run a diagnostic cd from dell.
Stop Error:

Run a system diagnostic utility supplied by your manufacturer. In particular, run a memory check, and check for faulty or mismatched memory.Try changing video adapters.

I also got the Ultimated cd but I don't know how to use it.

This is a laptop just in case you need to know.Also wanted to add that it works fine in safe mode but in safe mode with networking it is acts very slow.

Gave it a shot and had this also one in i386 folder. Testing it out now to see if it works.So far so good, I am running scf /scannow now.

update....I probably should have given up by now but I am still at it. I have been doing some research and in event viewer ycommon.exe was faulty so I deleted my at&t software( sure gonna miss it)

so far no more blue screens in normal mode but services.exe is still running 99% cpu usage which is causing me not to be able to do anything.

Services.exe using that much CPU time could be malware, or problems with anti-malware software.

Check the size of the HOSTS file to see how many entries there are.

in my event viewer all of my logs are 512.0kb except internet explorer which is 0. Do you think this could be the problem?

This is what else is listed all are files an 1 kb in size:
services
networks
protocol

The HOSTS file, with no extension is the one that can get filled with too much data. However, from those sizes, I'd say that it is probably not the problem.

even the HOSTS file listed at the top being 815kb ib size is probably ok?

You can rename the file and create a new one with the default contents (see link below). If you use Notepad to create a new file, remember that it will save it with a default extension of .txt which you will need to remove.

update...I thought I could fix my problem by re installing xp that when I ran into a problem and found this page

did as instructed here and so far everything is back to normal except I don't know how to transfer files. I may have messed up but for the username on the second installation I used my name and my husbands name waas the username on the first installation. How do I transfer files? Did I mess up by changing usernames?
