Virus Win32/VMalum.GFMC
I use CA Computer Associates antivirus provided by Road runner cable. I scanned my pc this morning and it showed I had the Virus:
Virus Win32/VMalum.GFMC
CA didn't offer me any options on quarantining or cleaning the virus. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this.
I am running a Windows XP
Thank you:)

Thanks for the great instructions. So far I have ran the SUPERantispyware and scanned my pc and quarantined a Trojan.Agen/Gen-MSIDEXT
I then ran the Malwarebytes and No Malicious items detected.
I am now going to download the gmer.zip and I will post back after I do that.
Thank you again for your help!

I downloaded gmer.zip and when I tried to scan the Rootkit tab after about one minute into the scan I got the blue screen with a physical memory dump (this happened 3 times) and the problem is stated: pxtdypob.sys
The address 9F19199F base at 9F186000 Date Stamp 4aff0029
I rebooted the pc and even took it off the internet. Should I go to the next/last step on your instructions and run Hijackthis file? I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

You're very welcome :)
Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
[list=1][*]Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.[*]Close any open browsers.[*]Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
- Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
- Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
NOTE. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
- Close any open browsers.
- WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
- Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
- If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
- Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
- When finished, it will produce a report for you.
- Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**
Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.
DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

I ran the combofix and installed the recovery console and the combofix blue box stayed open for an hour with no changes (it didn't appear to be doing anything) so I restarted the pc and will run this again (combofix) tomorrow when I get home from work. Thank you for your help. I will post back tomorrow evening after I rerun the combofix. I really appreciate your help!

I ran the combofix again tonight (2 times) and the combofix blue box stayed open for about 30 min the first time and an hour the second time with no changes (it didn't appear to be doing anything) so I restarted the pc and there was no report produced.
I ran my CA antivirus scan this morning and the virus is still there.
Thank you for all your help :)

Delete your Combofix file.
Download fresh one from HERE and try again.
I renamed the file for a reason.
-
Thanks I will work on it now
-
I downloaded and when I clicked to run I get the error message:
"not a valid Win32 application"

Resolved
Thanks Broni for all your help :)
I re-ran the CA computer associates scan and found the path of the trojan virus. C:\windows\32\etc. I deleted the file and several files with the same naming convention and re-ran my antivirus and the virus didn't show up.
I will watch closely and if it reappears (which I am afraid it will)
I have decided I was going to reimage my pc and be done with it.

Thanks Broni for all your help :)
I ran the Avenger file and see my results below: It appears maybe the virus is gone.

Broni I had to reimage my pc. Combofix would not work and after working on it for so many days I finally threw in the towel.
Thank you for all your guidance and help.
