If you have an XP machine without SP or SP2, will installing SP3 install those two or do you have to install SP1 And SP2 before you install SP3? I thought I read some where that it did but I need to verify it.

SP3 will take care of all prior SPa.
I hope you have not hit the internet with out the service packs, because if you did, the computer is more than likely infected!
No the computer has not been on the internet. I was going to download the service packs from my machine and put them on disk and install. Just wanted to know if SP3 installed them all or do I have to put them in SP1, SP2and Sp3.
You can also create an install CD with SP3 slipstreamed on. One way is this one ...
I think, you have to have SP1 installed to install SP3, or am I wrong?
I think if you install XP sp2 it also takes care of SP1 if you don't have it. Am I right on that?
Yes.
Thank You to everyone for your responses. have a great day.
If you do not use a slipstreamed disc, you must at least have SP1 before you install SP3.
Service Packs are usually cumulative, meaning that you don't need to install SP2 before you install SP3.
If it doesn't have SP1 I can install SP2 and that takes care of SP1 also and then I can Install SP3, right.
you could install SP2 then SP3, but SP2 is bigger than SP1 so it will take longer.
I don't have SP1 and you can't get it from MicroSoft anymore.
In described situation,
Just download and install

To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), either Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed.
Drat! My apologies.
I overlooked that.
I've been using slipstreamed SP3 into the standard discs!
Thanks everyone I think I have it under control.
