A Little but strange problem

Hi, I have a Little but too frustrating problem. Jejejeje. It's the first time I play it so I am soo happy. Well, the problem is that I don't know what happens, I've tried everything and still don't know what is. When I mount in the rope car that goes to the Gold Saucer just when the saucer reaches the entrance, the third video where the balloons appear, when the car stops the screen turn black like it's going to show a video or its going to change to a part of the game that they talk or I don't know. Well If someone can help me telling me what happens there maybe I can see if it's a video that haves a problem or something else. Please, help me in any way you can

What game is this you're playing? What operating system and what video card?

I'm Talking about FFVIII. In the Golden Saucer. It doesn't sound anything, I can't move, I can't do nothing except control Q. That it's the only thing that works, so the game it's not really crashed. I Have windows Xp Professional and a GeForce FX5200

What's your budget, and where in the world are you? That will help narrow things down a bit.

Well, I'm going to start working in 3 days and my salary will be good. I think that I can pay no more than 300-400 US$. And I'm from Venezuela.

My father told me that it was because I leaved it all day and night downloading things, but I heard that people recommend that leave the computer on. I'm going to buy an Q6600 Intel, an Nvidia 8800 GT and a Motherboard intel too. I was thinking of buying the D975XBX2, but then I started thinking and I have a question. What is the differences between Motherboards, because until I know they only are like sockets, you plug all the parts of the computer there and it does nothing more. Can you tell me what makes one better than another???. Another thing, I'm trying to buy the best parts that I can but spending the less that's why I didn't choose the Q6700. That Nvidia it's the best right??? Im going to put 4Gb of memory too. What do you think of that computer??? If you have some better ideas that are not too much expensive I'm open for them. I was looking for Nvidia cards and I found better cards that the 8800GT. I found the eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX (768MB) and the PNY GeForce 8800 GTS (640MB). I really can't buy the eVGA because It cost almost 600US$ and in combination with the other parts It's more than 1000$, but what can you tell me about the PNY??? I don't want another card that doesn't work well

The GT beats the GTS, don't base it on memory amount alone.

Don't go for the bad axe 2 either, the 975 isn't as good as a P35 chipset for the quad.

Lol, I'm a bit confused. You told me that the P35 chipset it's better than the 975 for the quad so I believe that that means that the Motherboard intel DP35DP it's better for the quad than the Motherboard Intel D975XBX2. I'm not too good with computer words or names, I'm new in this.

Nah, i'd rather go for a gigabyte over an Intel branded board, better BIOS too.

I have the 750 in my current rig, it's pretty meaty, and maybe overkill for you, 550-600 may be okay for you, aslong as you go for the 95W G0 stepping Q6600.

The Gigabyte has a better BIOS, more options for tweaking via an advanced menu for overclocking etc, it should be cheaper too....i've just seen a lot of people with quads and Gigabyte P35 boards seem to be very popular, the DS3R/DS3P/DS4/DQ6.

Before I got an ATI X850XT Platinum (the last best AGP they made as far as I know) I LOVED my 9800.

Just be REAL careful, and try to buy a Radeon, or one that was made by ATI.
3 years warranty (vs) 1 year and litlle support from the knock-off brands.

You can save some substantial $$ there: but you can also get burned big time.
Check the numbers next to a sellers profile and READ the feedback.

It gives you some idea who you're dealing with and how they handle their eBay transactions.
Don't buy an Indonesian board with ATI, IMHO: you'll be sorry.
Get a Canadian ATI board from the USA if possible.

I would also recommend paying with PayPal who will handle the currency exchanges, and accept Credit Cards as a secondary layer of protection against the thousands of scams taking place right now.

Don't Western Union any money, and make sure of what you're doing before you even consider this option.

I'm sorry guy: I was thinking AGP on the 9800 by ATI and that will not work on a pci buss slot. :o

Whether you're going to be able to find a decent one in the PCIe you have depends on your motherboard, and I don't have any experience past AGP.

That's some SLI arrrangement with dual graphics cards, special cables: and will be my next machine until this one dies or becomes obsolete.

A good example is: Intel will sell you all the socket 478 motherboards you can find and the CPUS.
They will not support either however, by phone, pay-for-incident, or email.
I've tried and bought the latest (still under warranty !) :mad: Intel mobo and CPU only 14 months ago.

Support: they will NOT even talk past "hello"on these products, and YOU CAN"T even email a support question. :mad:

Avoid socket 478 boards: period.

I now have the money to buy my computer, but right now my country is mad with buying things outside so I'll have to travel to USA to buy the parts. That's good, but I was told that is difficult to find stores (In miami Florida because I can stay there with friends) that sell computer parts because all of them sell the complete computer. It's that true?

Look for a CompUSA store. They were going through a closeout/going-out-of-business phase, but I see in Sunday's classifieds that our local CompUSA in Fort Myers (100 miles west of Miami) is hiring, and they're listed as CompUSA/TigerDirect. That's the on-line parts retailer. If you get here soon, you should be able to find one.

You could also ask your friend if you could buy a card from Newegg or elsewhere online, and let you use his/her Miami address for shipping. That way you could save some money.
