Wow....... :(
It think Steve would appreciate it if we all shout one collective
Crikey !
Oh man this is a shocker..... that is really sad ... he really got kids interested in wildlife :(
In the story they said they can't reach his wife yet ... how sad the rest of the world will know before she will.
:(
Holysh**t!! I never liked that guy and always dissed him. Of course now, I feel remorse. He was like the annoying cousin type... the one everyone avoided. How very sad...You would think it would have been by wrestling ol'crocks. Way too young.
see ya next time round...
Yeah that seemed sureal to me.Quote:

So were they split up? Is this why they couldn't find her? Ya think maybe she would be at home..or in the garden. Sorry..have no idea aboot this kind of...stuff...too weird for me.
Discovery channel won't be the same. May he rest peace.
He will be sorely missed by many, including my grand children. :(
Our condolences to his children and family.
Probably not...often those two would film in separate areas for the same episode.Quote:

Just read it on the news...very sad. Hard to believe it was by a stingray.
Like him or not, he had a special way with all the animals. Very talented at reading the animals he was dealing with. He will be missed. :(
Yeah, he was very talented with the animals. It's very sad and I know he'll be missed. :(
This was the first thing I heard this morning when I started my car. It put a downer on the whole day. I've always watched his shows and found him quite amazing, although crazy he knew what he was doing.
I visited his zoo a few years ago and saw him feed the crocs. He's done wonders.
RIP :(
This is what I just heard ... The barb of the stingray went up in under his chest under the sternum area and punctured his heart.
A freak accident indeed :(
Well, as the Australian Prime Minister said today: "It was a freakish and untimely death." :(
RIP.
Liam
When my eldest was about 3 thru to about 5 he idolised Steve after seeing him in a Wiggles video that was al about Australia Zoo, Steve and his family.
He used to dress in some khaki clothes and pretend he was Steve - he's got one of the biggest collections of stuffed crocodiles and snakes.
In Sept 2003 we went to Australia Zoo and saw Steve zipping around on a dirt bike near the compound where his house is.
When my son, just turned 7, found out yesterday he was devastated apparently cried all the way home from school. :(
oh, Holly Cow!! what a freaky death. I imagined him bitten by a croc, but not "bayonetted" by a stingray :(
My condolences to his wife, kids, and his family.
As somone mentioned earlier:"Discovery Channel won't be the same" without him. This guy was unique.
The saddest part is his small children. I bet he was a tremendous dad.
I admit he was a bit over the top, but I liked him.
As my dad always said, "At least he went doing what he loved to do."
The Animal Planet is running tributes to him tonight.
Oh, no! I have basic Comcast subscription.... Animal Planet channel is not included :(
aww ... that's too bad nganvu :(
I live at the Sunshine Coast and work at the airport where we are awaiting for the flight to bring Steve home.. very somber mood here...
Cheers Steve..youll always be in our hearts mate...
...and Steve was filming " the Ocean's Deathliest" documentary.....
How sad :(
Was really sad to see him in a re-run on tv yesterday.
I too was totally shocked at the news,, had a premonition a few years ago that he would be killed on the job ( haven't we all ? ) by poisons,, such as snakes or spiders but never thought of a Stingray fish ,and according to statistics there has only been 18 documented deaths world wide., and only two in the past three years..
Oh.. Crikey '' .
At least Ebay are maintaining their usual high standards

That's just...weird.
ebay....pffftttt..nothing but a pack of circling f.....g vultures..
A nice tribute

well that got me all choked up :(
..... and then I had to make it worse and watch the other vid listed there with him finding his oldes crocodile had died in her sleep...
both heartwrenching to watch.
Great Guy such a shame.................
BTW I heard as a child his favorite program had Troy Tempest in it  :D
Who is Troy Tempest?
