Being a midweek holiday....it was hard to "get into".....
Just taking the off time to work on some web stuff. Later I might go out and turn the garden hose on the idiot neighbors who buy fireworks comparable to the Patriot Missile system....
I had sparklers when I was a kid......
As I sit here there's a party raging next door. They're all drunk and throwing firecrackers around(illegal in this city)I just hope no one gets hurt. I'm keeping an eye on things for a while. The condition they're in, they won't last much longer. They're really good people, the drinking starts when their son comes home for the summer from NYC-he teaches there.
I'm not a big fireworks person myself, not since kidhood anyway, but I was hoping to get some shots of the more colorful and professional ariel displays. But we left before dark and I had the feeling they'd be very amateurish where i was anyway. I might be able to grab some of the Grucci show from my roof.
I like the pro shows....but drunks with explosives next door to my house is just plain bad news. Besides....they have been shooting them off since Friday. They are celebrating Independance Day....and I bet not one can tell you who George Washington was. Any reason for a party I guess...
Got one clown who actually built a permanent mortar in his yard. Steel pipe bolted to a concrete base so he can launch pro-grade fireworks.
Fireworks are illegal here as well.....but local authorities ( I use the term lightly) ignore it.....
The "best" part....all these parties will have drunken guests getting into cars later. :(
He was the guy who built the GWB, no?
No....but he might be the one who blows it up.... :D
Have some Hispanics across the street who like to go up to WA and buy ones that are illegal here and blow them off. But no alcohol or very little and they keep it in a paved parking lot at least.
I just wait for the really spectacular display up north on the Columbia river and watch it on the tube tonight. I really pity the people who have to clean the mess up on the water tho'. And pity the river and all who live downstream from the crap that's missed and will float on down not to mention the fish, crabs and other wildlife affected.
I had a great day with my family..... it was touch and go .. we woke up to rain .. but the day improved......
Just got done putting this together:
Fun With The 4 Nieces!! :D
I didn't get to see any fireworks yet.... I do love a good professional display... always have ever since the first time I saw them many years ago. I guess there will always be that part of the kid in me. I Ooooooh and Ahhhhhh right along with the kids :p
Unless it gets rained out there will be a good display Saturday :)
I hope you had a safe trip back JP ..... and I hope everyone is able to get to sleep at some point tonight with all the goobers out there setting off their own ;)
Your nieces are just beautiful CB. Looks like you had a nice day.
Aww thank you Jet https://discussions.virtualdr.com/im.../2008/05/2.gif
They are all my little beauties ;) .... The littlest one is a cam ham though ... she loves to see the camera come out ..... if you couldn't already tell :D
What a great bunch of Girls!! Thank You for sharing that CB! :)
Well, over here in Eastern WA it was a quiet evening for the beautiful wife and myself... although... there was that major thunderstorm that rolled through from 8:30 to 11:00 this evening. And I do mean MAJOR... we sat out back and watched it roll in from the south and it was quite a show! We pulled back in under the patio when the rain began .... but it's large with a clear canopy so no loss in viewing pleasure.
So, Mother Nature supplied our show and it was so much better ... sweetness. Got lucky here!
and thank you RR :) .... I took a bezillion pictures .... those are just a small sampling :D ... I didn't want to really bore anyone :p
As far as for noise here last night ..... I thought the town ran out of beer or something ... there was no noise ... no fireworks.... no sirens... no nothing ;)
Pretty good shots. Very good color, sharpness. I'm not familiar with that panasonic. How many MPs?
It's 5 mps .... I love my camera :D
Here it is if you want all the specs: Lumix LZ2
Great page, kitten..... :)
BTW....the drunken explosive experts on my block were still shooting them off at midnight. Naturally...they saved the big ones for last.
Getting up at 4 AM was particularly painful this morning.
Thank you darlin https://discussions.virtualdr.com/im...2008/07/10.gif
Well..... at least it's over for the most part now ;)
