Man shot by Cheney
Another thing that most mainstream media won't tell you is that the private property on which he was hunting is a "hunting" farm on which the animals are bred or bought then released from cages to be killed.
Could not agree more .. Been hunting all my life , you always know where the others are , and no one walks in front of you .. You shoot another hunter , See what happens to you ..
Must have thought he was hunting [old] coot :D

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported today that 500 farm-raised pheasants were released yesterday morning at the Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier Township for the benefit of Cheney's 10-person hunting party. The group killed at least 417 of the birds, illustrating the unsporting nature of canned hunts. The party also shot an unknown number of captive mallards in the afternoon.
I thought we had a bag limit in the Country .. Must apply to the working class only .. Wonder if the NRA are going to raise a stink ..
Doubtfull the NRA would get involved in this.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department would be another story...
Why isn't Cheney being held accountable for this? In this state if a hunter accidently shots another hunter he is charged with a felony. If the other hunter dies, he's charged with murder or manslaughter.
I've hunted all my life. I've also hunter Pheasant and the only way you're going to shoot another hunter is if you're shooting the birds on the ground. What a sportman our VP is.
Coming from Wyoming he's probably used to hunting by himself. At least John Kerry didn't shoot any companions on his photo-op hunting trip two years ago. And if Cheney had to nail someone, at least it was a lawyer. Maybe he thought it was Al Gore....or maybe someone called him Aaron Burr..... :D
Our VP can't raise his arms any higher because his pockets are laden down with all the $$ he's stolen for Halliburton and all the rest of his cronies ... :mad:Quote:

Would you be this harsh if it was Bill Clinton doing the accidental deed?--or are you quoting the Onion again?Quote:

...and Im staying away from those 'onions'.... :D:
If Dick Cheney asks me to go hunting, I'm going. It's worth the risk. Besides, he's pre-disastered now, so it's safer than ever.
An accident is an accident, I see no reason to bring poltics into it.
Accident's happen all the time everywhere, hunting or elsewhere
And yes you can get hurt or shot by someone that is shooting at a bird in the air, Have been that route before. Theirs not as manny gun accidents as auto accidents just a matter of numbers. I really cant see why the press wants to make this such a big deal.
The reason politics is entering into it is because if it were an average Joe Puplic that had the accident he would be behind bars tonight. But, if it's a high ranking politician then it's all hush-hush and everything is OK. These people do not live by the same laws we do.
What's hush-hush?? It's been all over the news today, since it's obviously more important than Iran's recommencement of uranium enrichment or any other piddling little things. As far as Halliburton, well they're only one of two American companies that will touch foreign disaster relief because of the expense--caused by excessive government regulation of the process. If the govt. didn't make it so difficult to do that kind of work, maybe other companies, like Burger King, Kohl's department stores and Wal-Mart would bid for that kind of work. Yeah, I'd feel better if we gave the taxpayers' money to companies that had no clue what they were doing. :D No-bid contracts are bad, too. Make the bidders go through the same 5-month process everyone else does! That would speed things up, just like in New Orleans last summer.
Now that I've had my rant, I'm sorry too. It galls me to see a good man vilified the way he's been just because he's not a touchy-feely compassionate klepto like some of his predecessors. I'd rather go hunting with Cheney than golfing with Spiro Agnew or Jerry Ford, that's for sure. :D
"President Bush was told about Cheney's involvement in the accident shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday — about an hour after it occurred — but the White House did not disclose the accident until Sunday afternoon, and then only in response to press questions. Press secretary Scott McClellan said he did not know until Sunday morning that Cheney had shot someone."

It's not Dick Cheney they're after. It's the way the Whitehouse handled the whole affair.
I bet I can spot the republicans in this discussions. Some prefer golf balls to buckshot. Fore
I don't know about New York, but that is not true in Illinois. Cheney was hunting legally and shot someone accidentally.Quote:

ROTFL....For 5 years Bush was Cheney's puppet, now he's supposed to be his guardian? The VP's office has its own press secretary and staff. What in heaven's name does the prez have to do with it? Next thing you know, Howard Dean will be calling for a Senate investigation of "Cheneygate" and demanding the man's resignation. Katie Couric will be doing an exposé on the dark side of Cheney's psyche. I can hardly wait for the Sunday morning talking heads' coverage of this, should be good. :D Letterman is the only one I know who's kept this in perspective--I was in stitches last night watching his Top-10 list.Quote:

I am no big fan of gunning down some dumb animal just for the fun of it and calling it sporting. To me, the animal needs a fifty-fifty chance of winning to be sporting.
The only thing to be learned here is that life long politicians and lawyers have no business around guns and live ammo.
Have to agree with you , when Cheney had his surgey they said Bush was in charge the whole time cheney was under ..
Because the second in command of the United States had the accident.Quote:

I'd say that combines politics with accidents. He's like the movie stars that get great attention anytime something happens.
The poor press secretary was bombarded with Q's on why it took so long to get the story out. Ah, Ah, the prez knew quickly, but ah, ah, facts were still coming in and we couldn't release the story until all the, ah, facts were in.
Just lucky they were using small pepper spray shot. Could have used double 0
buckshot and really did some damage.
My brother and I go to the range and shoot clay pigeons. They are bread there also but I don't think anyone complains. :D

CNN is reorting as breaking news that the shot man has suffered a mild heart attack when a pellet stuck in his heart.
Wish I knew what the big fuss is about. Didn't hear about the shooting accident in Texas until 11 p.m. last night. But my day today was no different than yesterday, Does anyone recall if it was one, two or 3 days before Hillary notified park police about Vince Fosters' suicide note? That incident didn't change my life in any way either. When you have been around as long as I have you don't sweat the small stuff!!!!
Hear, hear. The story I'm hearing about the way the story was released is that since the VP and Washington press corps detest each other, Mr. Cheney decided to stick it to them and let the local newspaper get the scoop on them. If that's the case, it sure worked--the D.C. reporters are incensed that the story bypassed them. I like it!Quote:

I know many people who never know squat about current events. Sure, most are not life changing but some may become that way. We are so bombarded and overloaded with news these days it's hard to discriminate between what is crucial and not.
If the Vice-President of the United States shoots someone, that's news we need to hear. If it had happened to Joe Blow, who'd give a crap.
Why? Is it going to change your life for the better? Don't take my reply wrong, BTW--I know what you mean to a point, but to me at least a VP's accident with birdshot doesn't have quite the same drawing power as, say, Aaron Burr or Andrew Jackson killing someone in a duel. Ranch-raised quail isn't quite the challenge Indiana-raised Quayle would be..... ;)Quote:

Duh me.... (Sometimes I wonder if I should change my name to that!)
No problem...I could hear/read it all day long & still love it. Beats me why that ethics-challenged excuse for a man always gets a free pass from the press and broadcast media. I first learned who he was when his plane crashed into the Holyoke reservoir (3 miles north of our house) in 1964. Funny how he always finds water. He must be an Aquarius, or Pisces. :D
WAIT!!! I can hear the jokes already...IF Dick ever askes you to go play hide and seek? you better seek? I know it was lame but....some of them above were quite good too
Did everone seem to forget the fact that if he wasn't a polotician he would probably be in jail? Now isn't that a load. Accident or not....maybe he wanted to shoot him? lol. I can see the cia, fbi, nsa or any other 3 letter org coming here now.Quote:

(god and momma always told me 4 letter words were bad)
sorry about the double guys. it was an afterthought.
If he had not been a rich, white politician, former front man for Halliburton he might not got there anyway. The Armstrong lady was on the board of directors of Halliburton at least in the past. Just another day of doing business with the government and keeping the politician on the string.Quote:
