how common are dead pixels on LCD?, good brands?
my grandfather was talking today, and was like "why do you still have that old bulky monitor?" you should get one of those nice LCD monitor..
and I told him that paying upwards $700 for a LCD monitor that would be big enough for me wouldn't be worth it since I was planning on getting a 21" CRT for ~100 on ebay
anyways, later he called me at work and was like "I saw this LCD monitor, I think I am gonna get you one.., you need to pick out one, ur uncle sent me this deal for a 21" samsung for ~$650".., so I guess I am lucking out and am going to get a $600 or so from him..; dual monitor time :) :) :)
I am concerned out dead pixels tho.., cause they drive me crazy and I've been told that no manufacture warraunties cover them..
is there any good brands you can recommend?, I would like to get a viewsonic but they are expensive.., how are samsung's or dells, ect.?
thanx in advanced,
Byan
Dead Pixels Not Uncommon - Warranties Weak
Of the five or six LCD monitors I've bought for our office over the years, only one (an otherwise fine Cornea LCD) had a dead pixel. I've read, though, that they are not uncommon. Unfortunately, nearly every manufacturer requires quite a few dead pixels before it will replace the monitor.
I've found Dell, Viewsonic, Sony, and even Envision to be pretty good. Right now, though July 20, 2005, Dell has incredible deals on its 2001FP (20") for as little as $526. I only bought the little bugger 10 days ago for $561. So it goes. But I must admit it lives up to its billing. Darn sharp text and rich colors. Very nice.
