Here's a link to a utility called "Span Disk"
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/html/do...load.php/id/13
Span disk will allow you to copy files that are to large for one disk onto two disks.
Hope this is what you're looking for. :)

Hi Steppenwolf:
Here's another (old) one to add to your toolbox. It runs in DOS (in case your Windows doesn't work). Freeware.
ftp://mirrors.aol.com/pub/simtelnet/...til/chop31.zip
Jerry
chainsaw also didnt work,, why is this
?

that didnt work either
You need to unzip the files first. I use winzip. You can download it from here:
http://www.winzip.com/
You can also use splitter3.1 to split the files to 2 floppies. It is small enuff that you can load it on the 1st floppy to use to unite the files on the laptop.
You can download it here:

do you mean that?is it frree or just for a month?
. . . and
If you need a good unzipper, try FreeZip. (Freeware -- free forever.)

Jerry
Yes that is it./ It used to be free to use to unzip and had a nag window as I remember.
I have a bought copy so I am not sure how long the evaluation version is valid.
But you can download 7 Zip here:
http://www.7-zip.org/
It is free and will unzip files also.
I have never used 7 Zip so I know little about it or how it works.
I would only select one to download for now as the last loaded will want to be the default and confusion may ensue about which is working if both are loaded onto your computer.
Hope this helps

thanks ,, here are old versions..im confused i guess ,, i wonder if i can call isp and theyd tell me how win3.1 works.. how do i detect a modem?
Hi John7714:
You must have found the "wrong" FreeZip. There's an interloper out there who has been using the name "FreeZip!" (note the "!") which encourages you to "register" and send contributions to "support future development."
The REAL FreeZip (by Dariusz Stanislawek) is completely free (forever) with no popups. Use my link above to the genuine FreeZip.
Jerry
Right Jerry. I was answering Steppenwolf's question about the Winzip D/l and you got in first with the FreeZip Suggestion.
It looks like FreeZip would be the one to go with. Seems to be less complex than 7 Zip and more free than WinZip.
John
Hi I would suggest winzip, although any good zip program will work. You need to create a new file call it A:\file.zip (this is done in classic interface) browse to the files you want copied and click zip now have a formatted floppy in the drive when one floppy is full you will be prompted for another. Then when unzipping you will need to be in classic mode as well.
thanks but i dont even know how to do classic interface
i have installed an old version of winzip on laptop but i dont know how it works i guess
Hi as best I can I will try to walk you through this:- Open winzip and you have wizard option or classic. Select classic. From the window that opens select "New". A window will open with an open option in the field (ie where the cursor is blinking) here you type A:\file.zip (you can call it anything as long as it has A:\ in front). Now press enter. Another window will open asking you what you want zipped. Browse to the file's you want copied and select them. The default is normal zip, it should be OK so leave it. press zip now and have a formatted floppy in the drive. When one floppy is filled it will prompt for another. Approx 12mb will fit on 4 floppy's. (don't forget to number the floppy's)Now when you want to open the floppy's you put one into the drive and open. It will tell you it is part of a spanned set and ask for the right floppy to be put in. Now when winzip opens select classic again. All files will open in the classic window. You can then select "extract" and the files will be unzipped to wherever you want them.
thanks it says things like bad date and ratio 49%
