There's been some great poetry in popular music over the years, so what lines stick in your mind the most. Don't forget to let us know where they come from. Thanks...
I'll post mine in a few, being there's so many! :p

We met one magic summer day
A dream came true and blew a way
For as your love began to grow
The time had come for me to go
Lovely lady of Arcadia
It was many, many years ago. I spent a magic day at a place called Arcadia with lovely lady.
But as the song said, it was time to go. :( BF
Not surprising to me, my first thoughts were for Fats Domino’s:
You’ll always hurt the one you love, the one you shouldn’t hurt at all.
You’ll always take the sweetest rose, and crush it ‘till the pedals fall.
So if I broke your heart last night, it’s because I love you most of all.
I might have missed a verse in there, but Fats had a variety of love songs to his credit. Out of the 50’s, this song has always been with me despite the many other classic works from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, and a host of others that are now no longer with us.
And now folks, one for our friends in Cheshire UK (TJolly and co)
With apologies to the original authors of Just a song at Twilight
Cheshire song at twilight,
When the lights are low
And the flickering shadows
Softly come and go
Though the heart be weary,
Sad the day and long,
Still to us a twilight,
Comes love's old song.
Comes love's old sweet song.
Sorry :p BF
From Time by Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon album).Quote:
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find that ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And you run and run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
I first heard those lyrics when I was 17 I thought they were incredibly profound, and I still think so today!
Yet another Floyd song from Wish You Were Here.
Were just 2 lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears.....wish you were here
Crazy Train
All aboard! Hah hah hah..
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
Yeh-h
Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
Ozzy Osborne (1980)
It's been over 20 years when I first heard the song, and still today, having not heard it in over 15 years I still know all the words. Ozzy, love him or hate him, but he preached in a lot of his songs, they all (or used to) have a message. I've not kept up with him or that kind of music since 1985...
Hi couldn't pick just a few lines the whole thing is just so good my favorite of all time words by Keith Reid the last two verses not on record. The group Procul Harum 1967.
We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, 'There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well've been closed
She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, 'You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.'
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed

BBC TV
BTW Not heard of that one BF :D
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothin'.
Now it's been tenthousand years
man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew - now man's reign is through.
But through eternal night the twinkling of starlight
So very far away - maybe it's only yesterday.
In the year twentyfive twentyfive if man is still alive
In the year thirtyfive thirtyfive . . .
-------------------------------------
Many times I've been alone
and many times I've cried
Any way you'll never know
the many ways I've tried
But still they lead me back
to the long winding road
You left me standing here
a long long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here
lead me to your door
But still they lead me back
to the long winding road
You left me standing here
a long long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here
lead me to your door
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

I got a shoutgun, and a rifle, and a 4 wheel drive
A Country boy can survive
And a Country boy can survive
See, i can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish, from dusk till dawn
We make our own whisky, and our own smoke too
Aint too many things these ole boys cant do, no
We grow good ole tomatoes, make homemade wine
A Country boy can survive
---------------------------------------------------
Always, no sometimes, I think it’s me,
But you know I know when it’s a dream.
I think I know I mean a ‘Yes’.
But it’s all wrong.
That is I think I disagree.
Let me take you down,
‘Cos I’m going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hungabout.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever

Ah, look at all the lonely people.
Ah, look at all the lonely people.
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name.
Nobody came.
Father McKenzie, wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave.
No-one was saved.
All the lonely people, where do they all come from?
All the lonely people, where do they all belong?
-------------------------------------------------------------
Roll it over and move on up
Just jump around and reel and rock it
Roll it over
Roll over Beethoven
A rockin' in two by two, oh
Well early in the mornin'
I'm a givin' you the warnin'
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Hey little little
Gonna play my fiddle
Ain't got nothing to lost
Roll over Beethoven
And tell Tchaikovsky the news
You know she winks like a glow worm
Dance like a spinnin' top
She got a crazy partner
Oughta see 'em reel an rock
Long as she's got a dime
The music will never stop
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
And dig these rhythm and blues

The sun is fading away,
that's the end of the day.
As the Junelight
turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way.
Just one kiss, then I'll go.
Don't hide the tears that don't show.
As the Junelight
turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way...
...to where the winds don't blow
and golden rivers flow.
This way will I go.
They were right, I was wrong.
True love didn't last long.
As the Junelight
turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way.

Baby’s good to me, you know,
She’s happy as can be, you know,
She said so.
I’m in love with her and I feel fine.
Baby says she’s mine you know,
She tells me all the time you know,
She said so.
I’m in love with her and I feel fine.
I’m so glad that she’s my little girl,
She’s so glad she’s telling all the world,
That her baby buys her things you know,
He buys her diamond rings you know,
She said so.
She’s in love with me and I feel fine.
I’m so glad that she’s my little girl,
She’s so glad she’s telling all the world,
That her baby buys her things you know,
He buys her diamond rings you know,
She said so.
She’s in love with me and I feel fine.

MY FAVORITE.
Quote:
Joan was quizzical studied pataphysical science in the home
Late nights all alone with a test-tube,
Oh oh, oh oh.
Maxwell Edison majoring in medicine calls her on the phone,
Can I take you out to the pictures Joan.
But as she’s getting ready to go, a knock come on the door.
Bang bang Maxwell’s silver hammer came down upon her head,
Bang bang Maxwell’s silver hammer made sure that she was dead.
Back in school again, Maxwell plays the fool again, teacher gets annoyed,
Wishing to avoid an unpleasant scene,
She tells Max to stay when the class has gone away,
So he waits behind,
Writing fifty times I must not be so
But when she turns her back on the boy, he creeps up from behind,
Bang bang Maxwell’s silver hammer came down upon her head,
Bang bang Maxwell’s silver hammer made sure that she was dead.
P.C. thirty-one said, we’ve caught a dirty one,
Maxwell stands alone
Painting testimonial pictures oh oh oh oh.
Rose and Valerie screaming from the gallery say he must go free.
The judge does not agree and he tells them so oh oh.
But as the words are leaving his lips, a noise comes from behind,
Bang bang Maxwell’s silver hammer came down upon his head,
Bang bang Maxwell’s silver hammer made sure that he was dead.
Silver hammer man.
The Sound of Silence, Simon & Garfunkel:
Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence.
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls."
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.

And I couldn't leave out my favourite band of all time!
Brothers in Arms by Dire straits:
These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Someday you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn to be
Brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battle raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell and
The moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line in your palm
We are fools to make war
On our brothers in arms
Well if you liked the Cheshire Song I'm sure you'll like the Butcher Song
Butcher arms around me and hold me tight

MELBA MONTGOMERY - No Charge
Writer: HARLAN HOWARD
Recitation:
My little boy came into the kitchen this evenin'
While I was fixin' supper
And he handed me a piece of paper he'd been writin' on
And after wipin' my hands on my apron
I read it - and this is what it said:
For mowin' the yard - five dollars
And for makin' my own bed this week - one dollar
And for goin' to the store - fifty cents
An' playin' with little brother, while you went shoppin' - twenty-five
cents
Takin' out the trash - one dollar
Gettin' a good report card - five dollars
And for rakin' the yard - two dollars
Total owed - fourteen seventy-five.
Well, I looked at 'im standin' there expectantly
And a thousand mem'ries flashed through my mind
So I picked up the pen, turnin' the paper over,
This is what I wrote:
For nine months I carried you
Growin' inside me - NO CHARGE
For the nights I've sat up with you,
Doctored you, prayed for you - NO CHARGE
For the time and the tears.
And the cost through the years, there's NO CHARGE
When you add it all up.
The full cost of my love is NO CHARGE.
For the nights filled with dread
And the worries ahead - NO CHARGE
For advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college - NO CHARGE
For the toys, food and clothes and for wipin' your nose
There's NO CHARGE, son
When you add it all up,
The full cost of my love, is - NO CHARGE.
Recitation:
Well, when he finished readin'
He had great big old tears in his eyes
And he looked up at me and he said,
"Mama, I sure do love you."
Then he took the pen,
And in great big letters
He wrote: "PAID IN FULL."
When you add it all up
The cost of real love is - NO CHARGE.
There is no way i can listen to this song from Melba without getting all tear'ed up...:)
One of my old time favorites, America, Lonely People. BJ
This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up
Until you drink from the silver cup
And ride that highway in the sky
This is for all the single people
Thinking that life has left them dry
Don't give up
Until you drink from the silver cup
You never know until you try
Well, I'm on my way
Yes, I'm back to stay
Well, I'm on my way back home
This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up
Until you drink from the silver cup
She'll never take you down or
Never give you up
You'll never know until you try
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs
..... and from the same author, all be it from a daifferent era.....
And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.
Hardly my favorite the scentiment rings true.... ulitmately karmic.
An acurate reflection of my generation's teen years:
Boy:
I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the kids at school
They were wishing they were me that night
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!
Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
Girl:
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Ain't no doubt about it
Baby got to go and shout it
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Boy:
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Baby doncha hear my heart
You got it drowning out the radio
I've been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun
And I gotta let ya know
No you're never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes I got a big surprise
It'll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor run
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!
Though it's cold and lonley in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
Paradise by the dashboard light
You got to do what you can
And let Mother Nature do the rest
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely--
We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go allt he way
An tonight's the night...
Radio Broadcast:
Ok, here we go, we got a real pressure cooker
going here, two down, nobody on, no score,
bottom of the ninth, there's the wind-up and
there it is, a line shot up the middle, look
at him go. This boy can really fly!
He's rounding first and really turning it on
now, he's not letting up at all, he's gonna
try for second; the ball is bobbled out in center,
and here comes the throw, and what a throw!
He's gonna slide in head first, here he comes, he's out!
No, wait, safe--safe at second base, this kid really
makes things happen out there.
Batter steps up to the plate, here's the pitch--
he's going, and what a jump he's got, he's trying
for third, here's the throw, it's in the dirt--
safe at third! Holy cow, stolen base!
He's taking a pretty big lead out there, almost
daring him to try and pick him off. The pitcher
glance over, winds up, and it's bunted, bunted
down the third base line, the suicide squeeze in on!
Here he comes, squeeze play, it's gonna be close,
here's the throw, there's the play at the plate,
holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!
II. Let Me Sleep On It
Girl:
Stop right there!
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further--!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?
Do you need me!?
Will you never leave me!?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life!?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife!?
I gotta know right now
Before we go any further
Do you love me!!!?
Will you love me forever!!!?
Boy:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you my answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it

And I'll give you my answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it

Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further
Do you love me?
And will you love me forever?
Boy:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you my answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it!!!
Girl:
Will you love me forever?
Boy:
Let me sleep on it!!!
Girl:
Will you love me forever!!!
III. Praying for the End of Time
Boy:
I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!
So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!
Boy:
It was long ago and it was far away
and it was so much better than it is today
Girl:
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
And we were glowing like
A metal on the edge of a knife

Insane Clown Posse (ICP)
Piggie Pie (old school)
Once upon a time there were three little pigs
who went out into the big world to build their homes
and seek their fortunes
The first little piggy, his house is made of wood,
He lives in a chicken turkey piggy neighborhood.
He likes to f*ck his sister, and drink his moonshine,
A typical redneck filthy f*ckin' swine!
I rode into town with my ax in my holster,
Everybody knows about the wicked piggy roaster.
The sheriff at the border, he tried to take me out,
I drew my ax with the quickness, and cut his adams apple out!
Walked in the village, and to the piggy's place,
He opened up his door, and shot me in the face.
It blew me off the porch, and blew my head in half,
But I'm a J*ggalo, so it only made me laugh. (Hehe!)
Ax in hand, I rose like the dead,
And swung with all my might,
I made a thump noise in his head.
Since we out west, I grabbed the shot gun,
And blew his f*ckin' tongue out the back of his cranium!
Three little piggies, to make a piggy pie.
There's nothing like the squeal when you hear a piggy die.
I might use a gun, (No!)
I might use an ax, (yes!)
The carnivals in town, come and get your piggy snacks!
The second little piggy, his house is made of brick,
And this little piggy is a mutha f*ckin' d*ck.
He lays down his rules and reads you your rights
In that funny lookin car with the little blinkin lights
I drive a Volkswagon bug 17 deep
Packed full of j*ggalo's lights out and we creep
To the piggy station and lay on the horn
First piggy out we blow his lungs out his uniform
Now they in pursuit, like Starsky and Hutch
But there's only 2 of them the rest are out to lunch
They call up Dunkin Doughnuts to gather up the rest
25 piggy's with a bullet proof vest
We lead 'em on a chase, they bustin' off rounds
but now they all f*cked cuz we at the carney grounds
And they gettin swallowed by their very own greed
Dark Carnival and Wicked Clownz cuz we need
Three little piggies, to make a piggy pie
There's nothin like the squeal when you hear a piggy die
I might use a gun, (NO!)
I might use an ax, (YES!)
The carnivals in town come and get your piggy snacks (2x)
The last little piggy, his house is made of gold,
He lives in a mansion on his own private road,
I started walking down it, the guard he told me wait,
I snapped his ****en neck in 2 and slammed his nuts in the gate!
Cuz this little piggy, must definitely die,
I'm a lob his nugget off and toss it in the sky.
And then I watch the moon take the form of the devil,
And pull it out the sky, and beat it with a shovel.
People in my city, they fight for their meals,
He sleeps on a mattress stuffed with hundred dollar bills.
A ritchie is the devil, he never will admit it,
So I'm a cut his hand off and slap his face with it.
Opened up his door, he's sleeping in his bed,
I grabbed a brick of gold and smacked it upside his head.
He begged for his life, I told him it's too late,
And tied his neck in a knot and watched him s*****e, cuz I need
Three little piggies, to make a piggy pie
There's nothin like the squeal when you hear a piggy die
I might use a gun, (NO!)
I might use an ax, (YES!)
The carnivals in town come and get your piggy snacks

Forever Autumn
Justin Hayward
The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near...
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear.
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here
Like a song through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...
Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year.
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here
Like a song throught the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...
A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear...
My life will be forever autumn
'Cause you're not here!
You really like my limousine
You like the way the wheels roll
You like my seven inch leather heels
And goin’ to all of the shows, but
Do you love me, do you love me
Do you love me, really love me
You like the credit cards and private planes
Money can really take you far
You like the hotels and fancy clothes
And the sound of electric guitars, but
Do you love me, do you love me
Do you love me, I mean like do you
Really love me
You really like rock ’n’ roll
All of the fame and the masquerade
You like the concerts and studios
And all the money, honey, that I make, but
Do you love me, do you love me
Do you love me, really love me
Your backstage pass and black sunglasses
Make you look just like a queen
Even the fans, they know your face
From all of the magazines, but
Do you love me (do you love me)
Do you love me (do you love me)
Do you love me (do you love me)
Really love me (really love me)
I wanna know
Do you love me (do you love me)
Do you love me (do you love me)
Do you love me (do you love me)
I mean like do you
Really love me (really love me)
I wanna know
Do you love me (do you love me)
Do you love me (do you love me)
Do you love me (do you love me)
I mean like do you
Really love me (really love me)
I want you to (do you love me, do you love me)
I need you to (do you love me, do you love me)
And you know I’m so tired of everybody sayin’ it
And you know, (do you love me, do you love me)
I just gotta know if you really really really, really love me
(do you love me, do you love me)
So come on, do you love me (do you love me)
I need you to
Do you love me (do you love me) I want you to
Do you love me (do you love me) I need you
Really love me (do you love me)
I wanna know
Do you love me (do you love me) do you, do you
Do you love me (do you love me)
I just got to have some love (do you love me, do you love me)
I just got to have some love (do you love me)
I just got to have some love, love, love, love, love
DETROIT ROCK CITY
I feel uptight on a Saturday night
Nine o' clock, the radio's the only light
I hear my song and it pulls me through
Comes on strong, tells me what I got to do
I got to
Get up
Everybody's gonna move their feet
Get down
Everybody's gonna leave their seat
You gotta lose your mind in Detroit Rock City
Get up
Everybody's gonna move their feet
Get down
Everybody's gonna leave their seat
Getting late
I just can't wait
Ten o'clock and I know I gotta hit the road
First I drink, then I smoke
Start the car, and I try to make the midnight show
Get up
Everybody's gonna move their feet
Get down
Everybody's gonna leave their seat
Movin' fast, doin' 95
Hit top speed but I'm still movin' much too slow
I feel so good, I'm so alive
I hear my song playin' on the radio
It goes
Get up
Everybody's gonna move their feet
Get down
Everybody's gonna leave their seat
Twelve o'clock, I gotta rock
There's a truck ahead, lights starin' at my eyes
Oh my God, no time to turn
I got to laugh 'cause I know I'm gonna die
Why
Get up
Everybody's gonna move their feet
Get up
Everybody's gonna leave their seat

From the album "Wish You Were Here"
(Allen Shamblin/Steve Seskin)
I'm a little boy with glasses
The one they call the geek
A little girl who never smiles
'Cause I've got braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels
To cry myself to sleep
I'm that kid on every playground
Who's always chosen last
A single teenage mother
Tryin' to overcome my past
You don't have to be my friend
But is it too much to ask
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
I'm the cripple on the corner
You've passed me on the street
And I wouldn't be out here beggin'
If I had enough to eat
And don't think I don't notice
That our eyes never meet
I lost my wife and little boy when
Someone cross that yellow line
The day we laid them in the ground
Is the day I lost my mind
And right now I'm down to holdin'
This little cardboard sign...so
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
I'm fat, I'm thin, I'm short, I'm tall
I'm deaf, I'm blind, hey, aren't we all
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
British Song LyricsQuote:
DON’T LAUGH AT ME (‘CAUSE I’M A FOOL)
Norman Wisdom and JuneTremayne. David Toff Music Publishing.
I’m not good looking, I’m not too smart,
I may be foolish but I’ve got a heart,
I love the flowers, I love the sun,
But when I try to love the girls,
They laugh at me and run.
Don’t laugh at me ‘cause I’m a fool,
I know it’s true yes! I’m a fool.
No one seems to care,
I’d give the world to share my life
With someone who really loves me.
I see them all falling in love,
But my lucky star hides up above.
Some day may-be
My star will smile on me.
Don’t laugh at me ‘cause I’m a fool.

Ah Detroit Rock City - KISS - another classic especially live with Ace Frehley (sp) doing a guitar solo went to see them in 79 with with by 10 year old brother. My dad took us as my mum was worried that 10 & 12 was too young to be going on our own. Even my dad got into the concert.

Wholly Humble Heart
Martin Stephenson & The Daintees
Album - Gladsome, Humour & Blue
Every man must have his castle
and feel a hand caress his nape
yes everybody needs a good friend
to give their secrets to
I too am no exception, i too need to be loved
I too desire a good friend, hopefully that is you
There is no time to kiss a statue
someone who purely looks the part
who will transcend on to another
wholly humble heart
I share a friend who is a gay boy
She tells me he is full of love
let Malcolm too be no exception
I wish him someone to love
for it takes a while to rekindle
no matter how many you've managed to fool
for the first bite makes the deepest teeth marks
those wounds take a pretty long time to heal
with a little bit of luck
the wounds will instill instinct
with a little bit of luck
you won't be too subdued
so get you ready for the next war
for pretty soon one will come along
There is no time to kiss a statue
someone who purely looks the part
who will transcend on to another
wholly humble heart

Album: Darklands
when she walks towards me
i feel something
crawl beneath my skin
and all the electric stars are shining
beneath my skin and
cherry takes me to the place above
with barbed wire kisses and her love
we're going where the oceans blue
kick the dust and you can come too
in the light of all my darkest mornings
things fall into place
and all the soft orange coloured dawnings
fall into place and
cherry's scratching like a grain of sand
the trigger itch in the killer's hand
me and cherry are so extreme
making love to the sound of a scream
oh cherry honey you got me stuck on a rope
you got me running around
with the fear in my head for you
and i want you
and i'll give you my head
and all the things it said
and i'll give you my thoughts
if those things weren't lost
and i'll give you my soul
to beat it with your pole
i'm going to give you my head
you could kick it dead
and i'll give you my head
come on and kick me dead
come on and push me down
come on and drag me down
oh cherry be bad
come on and kiss my head

I can't use it anymore.

I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around since I was born.
And now it's all right. It's OK. And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand. The New York Times' effect on man.
Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother,
you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin',
and we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.

LITTLE ARROWS
Leapy Lee
There's a boy a little boy
Shooting arrows in the blue
And has aimed them at someone
And the question is at who
Aimed at me or aimed at you
It's hard to tell until you're hit
You'll know it when you get one
The arrows that are lit
Little arrows for me and for you
You're falling in love again
You're falling in love again
Little arrows in your clothing
Little arrows in your hair
When you're in love you'll find
Those little arrows everywhere
Little arrows that will hit you once
And hit you once again
Little arrows will hit everyone
Every now and then
There's a boy from the other side
But there's nothing that you can do
And some folks put on armour
But the arrows go straight through
So you see there's no escape
So why not face it
And admit that you love those little arrows
When they fall a little bit
Little arrows in your clothing
Little arrows in your hair
When you're in love you'll find
Those little arrows everywhere
Little arrows that will hit you once
And hit you once again
Little arrows will hit everyone
Every now and then

TWO LITTLE BOYS
Lyrics by Edward Madden
Music by Theodore F. Morse
Two little boys
Had two little toys,
Each had a wooden horse;
Gaily they played
Each summer's day -
Warriors both of course.
One little chap
Then had a mishap,
Broke off his horse's head;
Cried for his toy,
Then cried for joy
As his young playmate said:
"Did you think I would leave you crying
When there's room on my horse for two?
Climb up here, Jack. we'll soon be flying;
I can go just as fast with two.
When we grow up we'll both be soldiers,
And our horses will not be toys;
And I wonder if we'll remember
When we were two little boys."
Long years passed,
War came so fast;
Bravely they marched away.
Cannons roared loud
And in the mad crowd
Wounded and dying lay.
Up went a shout -
A horse dashes out,
Out from the ranks so blue,
Galloped away
To where Joe lay
And then came a voice he knew:
"Did you think I would leave you dying
When there's room on my horse for two?
Climb up here, Joe, we'll soon be flying
Back to the ranks so blue.
Do you know, Joe, I'm all a-tremble,
Perhaps it's the battle's noise;
But I think it's that I remember
When we were two little boys."
Paranoid by:
Black Sabbath - Good old Ozzie, what an entertainer:
Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah!
Now in darkness, world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs of the power
Hand of god has sturck the hour
Day of judgement, god is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
ALL RIGHT NOW!
Sought of reminds me of modern times.

See You On The Other Side Lyrics
Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzmosis
Voices, a thousand, thousand voices
Whispering, the time has passed for choices
Golden days are passing over, yeah
I can't seem to see you baby
Although my eyes are open wide
But I know I'll see you once more
When I see you, I'll see you on the other side
Yes, I'll see you, I'll see you on the other side
Leaving, I hate to see you cry
Grieving, I hate to say goodbye
Dust and ash forever, yeah
Though I know we must be parted
As sure as stars are in the sky
I'm gonna see when it comes to glory
And I'll see you, I'll see you on the other side
Yes I'll see you, I'll see you on the other side
Never thought I'd feel like this
Strange to be alone, yeah
But we'll be together
Carved in stone, carved in stone, carved in stone
Hold me, hold me tight, I'm falling
Far away. Distant voices calling
I'm so cold. I need you darling, yeah
I was down, but now I'm flying
Straight across the great divide
I know you're crying, but I'll stop you crying
When I see you, I see you on the other side
Yes. I'll see you. See you on the othe side
I'm gonna see you. See you on the other side
God knows I'll see you, see you on the other side, yeah
I'll see you. See you on the other side
I'm gonna see you. See you on the other side
God knows I'll see you, see you on the other side, yeah
I wanna see you, yeah, yeah, yeah, see you on the other side
God knows I'll see you, see you on the other side, yeah
I'm gonna see you. See you on the other side
I remember back in the early to mid 80's when Ozzy went and relieved himself on the Alamo. After that the City of San Antonio wouldn't let him back in the city to preform a show for several years (I think S.A. got over this?). Ozzy's reply was, "I thought it was just an old building!" how was Ozzy suppose to know it was The Alamo! :D
You can read the story of Ozzy and The Alamo at the link below.
http://www.porkrind.com/sa.htm
Quote:
Ozzy's attitude and wild demeanor has helped him greatly, and gotton him into some trouble. In 1982, Ozzy was banned from playing in San Antonio, Texas, for pissing on The Alamo. He was arrested and charged with defiling a national monument; the ban was later lifted. In 1992, Ozzy donated $20,000 to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas to help restore the Alamo. Also in 1982
http://www.metalstorm.ee/bands/o/ozzy_osbourne/Quote:
February 1982, Ozzy visits the Alamo, a national shrine in Texas. Drunk in his hotel room he decides to dress up as a woman and go outside to snap some pictures. During film reloading, Ozz felt the need to relieve himself. He walks over to this half knocked down wall and starts taking a leak. That piece of wall turned out to be part of the Alamo building. Ozzy was thrown in jail and banned from ever playing in San Antonio, Texas again. (a ban which was lifted in 1992).....................................................................
October 1st Ozzy performs in San Antonio, TX for the first time in 10 years after donating $10,000 to the caretakers of the Alamo, where he relieved himself on a drunken binge.
I think he paid a high price just to relieve himself :D:D
More hoakum on the same theme for you :D
http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/images...tes/alamo1.jpgQuote:
666 Appearing on the Alamo
Here's how the story goes. Back in 1982 Ozzy Osbourne was on tour in San Antonio. While there, he took the opportunity to don one of his wife's dresses, stumble over to the Alamo, and urinate on the side of it. Ever since then the number 666 has slowly been forming on the front of the building, gradually becoming more distinct. When the number becomes absolutely clear, something terrible is going to happen. No one knows exactly what, but it'll definitely be pretty bad. Maybe The Osbourne Show will be turned into a movie.
Check out the pictures below and see if you can spy the Mark of the Beast as it manifests itself on the front of the Alamo. It took me a while to see anything, but finally I spotted what I think everyone is talking about. And yeah, I guess there is something there, if you stare at it long enough. Smoking the appropriate reality-warping chemicals would also probably help.
The question in my mind is whether this pattern has always been there, or whether it really did appear after Ozzy relieved himself. Without any pictures of the Alamo pre-1982, I can't answer that. My guess is that it was always there.

Sweet Child O Mine:
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that
Special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me
Of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

I loved you since I knew you
I wouldn't talk down to you
I have you to tell just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again
It's a bad way

You don't have to put on the red light

You don't have to put on the red light

Led Zeppellin - Trampled Underfoot;
Greasy slicked down body, groovy leather trim
I like the way you hold the road, mama, it ain't no sin
Talkin' 'bout love (X3)
Trouble-free transmission, helps your oil's flow
Mama, let me pump your gas, mama, let me do it all
Talkin' 'bout love (X3)
Dig that heavy metal underneath your hood
Baby, I could work all night, believe I've got the perfect tools

The Who - Pinball Wizard;
Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall...
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball !
He stands like a statue,
Becomes part of the machine.
Feeling all the bumpers
Always playing clean.
He plays by intuition,
The digit counters fall.
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball !
He's a pin ball wizard
There has got to be a twist.
A pin ball wizard,
S'got such a supple wrist.
'How do you think he does it? I don't know!
What makes him so good?'
He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells,
Don't see lights a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell.
Always has a replay,
'n' never tilts at all...
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball.
I thought I was
The Bally table king.
But I just handed
My pin ball crown to him.
Even my usual table
He can beat my best.
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest.
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fall...
That deaf dumb and blind kind
Sure plays a mean pin ball.!!!!!
Ok for a good idea, how's Rap Group Public Enemy with the 'siren' type effect that is in the background of nearly all their music.
Apparently put there so that when you're driving through the hood with your music pumping - the distinct 'siren' sound is easily identifiable as Public Enemy and not 'just another rap group'.
Quote:
Yo Chuck, bust a move man
I was on my way up here to the studio
Ya know what I'm sayin'
And this brother stop me and axe me
"Yo wassup with that brother Chuckie D, he swear he nice"
I said
"Yo the brother don't swear he's nice, he knows he's nice"
Ya know what I'm sayin'
So Chuck, we gotta fill in
You turn him into a Public Enemy man
Now remeber that line you was kicking to me
On the way out to LA ??? ??? ???
While we was in the car on our way to the Shot (?)
Well yo right now kick the bass for them brothers
And let them know
What goes on
What goes on
