Test your popup blocker software.

I thought it would be interesting to find out how good your PopUp Killer software program is compared to others. My test results are below with the name of the program I use. Feel free to post your results if you have time. Thanks! :)

Less common popup techniques
Channel Opener- 0
Modeless Window- 1
Full screen trap- 0
Drop down popup- 1
Floating banner- 0
Chromeless- 0
Sticky popup- 1

High-tech popup and floating media
EyeBlaster- 0
TangoZebra Overlays- You'd have to uninstall Flash player to not get any of these. Of the ones I tested in the list, I got floating media in everyone. (No real need to bother with Overlays!)

Not all popups are bad...
Good PopUp #1- 0
Good PupUp #2- 1
Good PopUp #3- 0
Good PopUp #4- 0

Great test! Thanks, Fuelm@n. Norton Internet Security 2003 failed on 1 of the 2 Come & Go popups, on Modeless Window and on Drop down Popup. It passed all the others.

I've been wondering lately why I was getting the odd popup window - that explains it. At least with NIS they update it regularly, so hopefully they'll get killed as well soon.

I too used EMS Free Surfer. Did a good job:D

Opera 7.03 stopped all but the drop-down and the floating banner.

Mozilla stopped all but the mouseover, drop down and floating banner. It also allowed the "good" pop ups.

Just ran Mozilla 1.4 thru and the only one that came up was the mouseover popup. I had images and colors turned off so I only got the box with the close button in the upper rh corner. Do people still use IE??

Win98SE, IE6-sp1, Plain ol' free version of popup stopper i've had for over a' year. Only ones that got thru' were:
Multi test= 1
Modeless window= yes
Drop down= yes
floating banner= yes
floating popup= yes
blue layer= stopped
all others stopped

Boy that doesn't look too hot.
Anyone with an Idea of a better popup killer?? WHere does yours rate. Hopefully not as bad as mine. I find it kinda funny tho. In the options for popup stopper pro v1.8 there is an option for aggressive popup control. Guess what? I ran thru these tests a couple times, and with the option unchecked or checked I still recieved the same amount of popups. Just there to make it look good I guess! :D :D :D :D
