Is it possible to retrieve email from my msn.com email account through outlook Express.
Yes it is possible. :)
Could someone tell me how to set this up...
You will need to create a new account in Outlook and use the following settings for the Pop3 and SMTP settings:
Incoming e-mail server:
pop3.email.msn.com
Outgoing e-mail server:
smtp.email.msn.com
This does not work. Hotmail is not a POP3 server:confused:Quote:

I believe that you have to be a member of the MSN network...
I too have both hotmail.com and msn.com e-mail accounts and can only get OE to identify/retrieve for the hotmail accounts...
From your last remark (This does not work. Hotmail is not a POP3 server) I guess that you have a Hotmail-account and you want to use Outlook to get and send your hotmail?
If so, go to [extra] [accounts] [add] [email]
Fill in your name etc. When the window "email servernames" pops up, select HTTP in the upper selectionbox and choose Hotmail as your provider. In the next windows, fill in your username and password of your hotmail-account.
That process works great if the e-mail extension is "hotmail.com" but not with "msn.com"...
This is strange, you would think it would work with both hotmail & msn.com, after all they both seem to be linked:confused:
go to this link and follow the instructions where it says to use msn or hotmail thru outlook express. when you do it you will have two columns in oe when you open it up , one for outlook ex and one for msn, i got this link from msn and have used it for about 6 months wors fine for me.http://go.msn.com/svcs/2/31.asp

USING YOUR E-mail
When you installed MSN Explorer, your account was moved from a POP3 server to Web-based Hotmail. If you plan to continue to use MSN Explorer or www.hotmail.com to read your e-mail, you don't need to make any additional changes. If you would like to continue using Outlook Express to access your MSN Internet Access e-mail account, visit http://go.msn.com/svcs/2/31.asp.

Important Information for MSN Internet Access Upgrade users
BROWSING THE INTERNET WITH INTERNET EXPLORER
You can still use Internet Explorer when connecting with MSN Explorer. Simply sign in with MSN Explorer, and it will connect to the Internet for you. Then minimize the MSN Explorer window, open Internet Explorer, and browse the Web as you normally do. When you are ready to finish an Internet session and disconnect, you can do so from the MSN Explorer sign in screen.
If You've Uninstalled MSN Explorer
Uninstalling MSN Explorer will not cancel your Internet Account with MSN. If you would like to continue connecting to the Internet using your MSN Account, please see the steps below.
The following steps provide instructions for setting up an Internet connection to MSN Internet Access and configuring Internet Explorer to use this connection. We recommend that you print this page for future reference.
STEP 1: Set up an Internet connection.
For Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows 98 Second Edition:
Double-click My Computer, and then double-click Dial-up Networking.
Double-click Make New Connection.
Click Next.
Type the access number you use to connect to MSN, and then click Next. If you don't have a local access number, you can get one by contacting MSN Customer Service at (800) 386-5550 or by visiting MSN Support Services.
Click Finish.
Right-click My Connection, and select Properties.
Click Server Types. Click to clear the check boxes labeled Log on to Network, NetBEUI, and IPX/SPX Compatible Protocol. The only check boxes that should remain checked are Enable Software Compression and TCP/IP. Click OK.
On the Dial-up Networking screen, double-click My Connection.
In the User name box, type MSN/username, where username is your MSN Member ID.
Type your password into the Password box, and click Connect. The connection you've created will use your default modem to dial up and connect to the Internet.
For Windows 2000:
Click Start, point to Settings, point to Network and Dial-up Connections, and then click Make New Connection
Click Next.
Click Dial-up to the Internet, and then click Next.
Click I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect to a Network (LAN) and then click Next.
Click I connect through a phone line and a modem, and then click Next.
Type the access number you use to connect to MSN, and then click Next. If you don't have a local access number, you can get one by contacting MSN Customer Service at (800) 386-5550 or by visiting MSN Support Services.
In the User name box, type MSN/username, where username is your MSN Member ID. Type the password into the Password box. Click Next.
Click No in Set Up Your Internet Mail Account page, and then click Next.
Click Finish.
Your new connection will be named 'Connect to' and will have the access number you typed in the steps above.
STEP 2: Configure Internet Explorer to use your new Internet connection (all versions of Windows).
Click Start, point to Settings, and click on Control Panel.
Double-click Internet Options.
Click Connections.
Click the connection you created in STEP 1 called 'Connect to <your access number>'
Click Always dial my default connection option.
Click Set Default button. Click OK and close the Control Panel.
STEP 3: Connect!
You should now be able to connect to the Internet using your new connection by double-clicking the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop.

I have my notebook setup to receive msn.com email through outlook Express and I love the way it works. Is there anyway that I can find how I set it up on my notebook so I can install it on my desktop?
