Still "under construction" too:D
"Still "under construction" too"....
The smiley face doesn't make me feel any better.
The "Internet" forum encompasses far too much to be placed under the heading of Software. But segmenting all of this is all the more reason the links should be at the top of the page like they used to be, like so many asked for the return of but never got. (The forum change was "by popular demand", wasn't it?).
Basically it was to bring VDR out of the dark ages, I have been associated with the forums since 1998 with no real changes to the look of VDR, for me it's like a breath of fresh air. BJ :DQuote:

I also agree, the new look is great. The search function looks good and is in a handy place. I also like the blue theme :D
Big thumbs up!
Yuri.
I hear you Steve. I'm just suspicious after the last change, that's all, especially after the trouble with the ads.
I like blue, too. But I hope they don't darken the rest of the page. Web pages with dark backgrounds and light lettering are very hard on the eyes.
My congratulations to the techs who installed the changes. I've been on the site off and on most of the day and saw no serious problems. Changing a "live" web site is not easy and about as much fun as a root canal. Well done!
Like it? Yes I do and must admit, this was the smoothes switch I have been around.
good look this marvellous sure beets the other looks
Sure looks good without those ads on the right huh.
I still find the coloured scroll bars a little gimicky wherever I see them but they grow on me.
I really like this layout, much easier on the eye.
;)
This place looks a lot cooler! I didn't even expect a change, then I typed the address here and was like 'woah, cool'
Two thumbs up!
Thumbs up all the way, which for me is great since I seem to be all thumbs lately. However I still say we need a dedicated section that lists all the neat little programs our members provide to help things run more smothly IE:
ME defrag, stripmail, Belerac Advisor, Adaware etc.

New look is great!!
I didn't much care for the ads on the side of each page from before either. As a person with ADD, I get distracted easily and that bit with the ads was a bit too much for me.
And my favorite color is Blue.....:D
I like it! Pages load much faster for me. Are the ads gone for good? Probably not, Vdr has to make money some way to stay alive. When I loaded the page for the first time, I thought my browser had been hyjacked.

Looks fresh and sober to me :)
I haven't been to VDr for over 10 days as I have been on holiday with no access to computer.
I got a bit of a shock when I hit my favourite link and the screen looked totally different.
However, I like it and the removal of ads on the right hand side is good. :)
One thing, I'm sure before I went on leave I was up to 997 posts, I posted a new thread in Win98 forum and it was number 991, not a major deal, maybe I frogot in those 10 days what I was up to.
Anyway, this is 992 and I think I might mkae 1000 before Christmas. :)
Cudos to the crew... was a seamless move. Was here for it and noticed a few odd things here and there... saw some post about the 'new look' that I couldn't read. Then a bit later 'the look' was there, very nicely done... write that upgrade plan down and send it to me! ;-)
Only 2 suggestions... that logo up top there... it's huge. The Virtual Dr. / Internet News / Search logo. And I'm runnin' 1280 x 1024 here. Downsize that puppy.
Color options would be nice... I'm o.k. with the blue, but many here would like the option I imagine.
When I was at work using IE5.0 the scroll bars were just grey so I didn't know what you were talking about but at home using IE5.5 they're blue.Quote:

Awesome upgrade. Love the new look. You guys deserve a big raise and a holiday bonus;)
Thank you for all you do and Happy Holidays.
shotsi:)
i loved the old colors ...
but who am i?
I like it, I like it!!!
My only criticism, too many forums.
I prefer the "Dark Ages"!:confused:
I most be getting old. I liked the old colors. The blue is bold though and you can't miss it, thats for certain. But then again, I still like the plain text style of forums. I like brillinat colors like beige and grey... I must be getting old
You kids with your flashy web pages...lol
...dauf
Yeah, much better! And what a relief to be rid of those side-bar ads. Hardly a noticeable difference between IE and Opera6 too! Very professionally done.
It's all part of a conspiracy !
I was just saying to my wife the other day that computer manufacturers must be in cahoots as I was looking through a catalog and HP, Canon and Acer products, especially printers are now all in silvery grey and blue tones.
Miraculously they all suddenly changed to this combination around the same time :confused:
Then suddenly I log on to VDr and it's got a strong Blue theme with the other main colour being grey. Hmmmm.
I kinda liked the old colours as well, Plus i don't like the two big boxes on top of screen you log into. My 17 in trinitron monitor with settings at 1024 x 768 I now have to scroll down more than 50% just to get to first line to read. The BIG VIRTUAL DR Internet News box, and the box to the right of it Advertising has to go. It is too big and in the way.
I haven't really noticed a differance in pages comming up any faster..
just my two cents..
I'm in the process of writing a new Proxomitron filter to remove that large BLUE banner at the top of the page. It's irritating to have to scroll down on every page I look at.
Gone! Just the grey buttons at the top of the page. I LIKE the new look!
Nice, very nice. Am I the only one that thought of NoWonder when the new look loaded for the first time? ;)
Rambler, could you do us a favour and post it ;)Quote:

A simple thing, but 'tis mine own:
Name = "VirtualDr header removal"
Active = TRUE
URL = "discussions.virtualdr.com*"
Bounds = "<table *<!-- logo and buttons -->"
Limit = 5000
Match = "*"
Replace = "<!-- VirtualDr logo removed -->"
DennisR,,Nope,,your not the only one. :) Gave my heart a' lil' tug when i first saw the upgrade...;)
I like it, I like it, I like it!!! The new look is great. What a surprise when I came to the forum today. The best part is, although it might be a new look, I know I will continue to get the same great input and assistance from everyone! The best of both worlds!:D
Here's another 'two thumbs up' from an old timer of the No Wonder era. The new look is great. I've never been one to complain much - - I would sorta grumble to myself and figure they might change it some day. And, by golly, you went and fixed things as if you were reading my mind. VirtualDr is a great site because of the people and the help they provide. A nice format is just icing on the cake. Keep up the good work !

I love the new look, with the exception of the colour scheme - I liked the old colours. I just hope VDr doesn't go the way of NoWonder (what a shame that was) - I once worked for a firm, where they spend millions doing the place up & buying new equipment and then closed it a month later and made us all redundant!
