Is that post found on all boards Spam?
(Super moderator with 5 posts total?)
It’s not spam when a member of the corporate team advertises another new forum by the same owners as VDR:)
Thanks.
Just the same, it sure does look and taste like spam.
After browsing the different forums on this board and repeatedly having to go past the Sticky T-shirt I figured out why it looks and taste like spam.
This board or should I say the moderators of this board are very strict when it comes to moving different articles to the appropriate board.
But in the case of the sticky t-shirts, they do not really belong on any of these boards as the subject is completely off topic.
Should it not be placed in a side bar as an advertisement or in the Feedback board or maybe even in the Hardware board?
Just my feedback.
I must admit, report2, I have to agree especially when it contravenes two paragraphs of the AUP ;)
Maybe a banner ad which would have been ignored and might not have been appropriate, but a simple enigmatic link might have been more successful. The curious amongst us would have clicked the link?Quote:
You will not post advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations, all of which are inappropriate and prohibited in the Forums. You will not, furthermore, collect personal information about forum members for the purpose of sending them any such advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations through other means (email, messaging programs, etc.).
You will not post messages that are clearly outside of the stated topic of any Forums nor disrupt a forum by deliberately posting repeated irrelevant messages or copies of identical messages (also known as "flooding").
Reminds me of an old guy I once knew. He would say "do as I say and not as I do"
So, 'flooding' is okay for corporate but not for members.
I can deal with that so long as we are up front about it and not chastise anyone for following the example as being acceptable use with the precedent being set at the corporate level.
The rest of us will know better otherwise.
Probably not helped by the fact that the persons Nick is AMD.
A post by AMD about a new CPU board offering free T-Shirts ???
All just co-incidence ??
Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
It is an AMD advertisement.
I see now they have one on the sidebar too.
I think I remember someone suggesting to place the ads in between the forum posts to get more exposure. I guess corporate liked the idea.
It's better than a pop-up and ads do pay for things.
Funny. I have the banner ads blocked with AdShield and when I click on the T-shirt thread all I get is a blank page. If I turn off the ad blocking I can then see the actual post. I didn't even know it was a corporate ad until now. I was coming to this section to ask why nobody unsticky'd a blank thread that I thought had been locked and edited out by a mod.
Y'all seem to have forgotten all the Barbra Streisand they threw at us during the forum makeover. It's all "by popular demand".
But how much longer must we endure the sticky ??
Personally I'm getting a bit sick of it appearing on every forum that i visit at VDr.
I get the hint, I went and registered - am still waiting for an email back.
Enough already.
BTW there are no links from http://forums.cpuplanet.com back to here so it all seems like a big one way push.
Oh well, the power of the $$ wins again.
Yes, yes, yes...someone has to pay, blah blah..........
Better learn to live with it, they will be around at least a couple of more months.Quote:

Ya know Nix, it's a little fuzzy right now but I think I remember a time that you actually came to VDR to help people out instead of complaining all the time. :( BJ
Other than these two threads that I startedQuote:

and my posts on this one, I can't see where I'm.Quote:
complaining all the time
The first thread was similar to one someone else had posted and the second was annoying the crap out of many people.
This one I didn't start, I just voiced my thoughts.
So you have a forum for feedback but as soon as someone posts anything negative you accuse them of.Quote:
complaining all the time
There are getting to be so many stickys that when I enter the forum I am thinking that there are no new posts because all that are in view are greyed since I had already seen them.
Below those are the other non corporate posts that were moved to an appropriate forum board.
When it gets to one full page I'll give up and opt out.
"Forum Feedback" - Ads in the posts - opine - bad idea.
Not complaining; just providing some forum feedback.
Modified my previous post slightly as I realised I didn't start this thread.
So two threads that I proactively started that could be seen as complaining.
I think the real issue might be that fact that I raised the issue of bowing to the advertising $$ and have hit a nerve.
Oh well such is life.
K Nix, I may have exaggerated a little, it just seems like lately you have been doing it quite a bit. You gotta remember without the adverts VDR couldn't exist. This is a big community & as you know it's impossible to keep everyone happy. Myself & the mods work very hard to make this a good place for all of you so how bout some positive feedback once in awhile, have a good one pal. BJ
From here.

I guess what it goes to show, is how much we take for granted on this site.
The dedication of the moderators of the various forums and the operators of the site have managed to contribute to an excellent site that we should be proud of. To all of you (you know who you are) a heartfelt pat on the back for a job well done.
Guest that visit me are *not* allowed to smoke in my house. If they really, really must smoke they are welcome to leave. We all have mutual friends that don't mind if people smoke in their house, so I'm sure that the smokers would be more comfortable there. I don't mind if they visit our mutual friends more than they visit me. Matter of fact, I may join them there on occasion. I would however consider it rude and backstabbing if, while at the other mutual friend's house, they complained about not being able to smoke in my house. I would also consider it disrespectful if they complained about my rules while in my house. I wouldn't dream of doing the same to them. Is this getting through?:)
So basically you're trying to say that we should abide by the rules of the person that owns the house ??
So if at my house I insisted that everyone should be nude and that there was no such thing as sexual abuse, that should just be accepted and no one is allowed to disagree either at my house or elsewehere ??
I don't think so.
I know this is an extreme example, but we're not sheep we don't just follow the leader.
Yes certain circumstances dictate the use of rules, laws and beliefs , but sometimes we need to challenge those beliefs and there is such a thing as freedom of speech.
BTW, mods, i'm not some crazed sexual fiend in case you are wondering, it was just an example.
Umm yes. If you want to make such a rule in your house, then anyone who disagrees will simply have to leave. Assuming no laws are being violated, you can do what you want. Consenting adults can choose to be nude in your house, or leave. People are free to disagree, but once the owner gets sick of the complaints-- the complainers are shown to the door.
You have the right to challenge the rules, but others have the right to ignore your opinion as well :)
*typing as fast as I can because this thread is on its way to a swift CLOSING *
And a good nite to all. BJ :D
