Good advice on the BIOS Anti-virus setting and disabling the caches-- but a really quick fix for the date thing (I guess by W2K you meant Y2K, I don't think a 486 is Windows 2000 compatible) is just to set the RTC in the BIOS to some date in 1995. Win95 will never be the wiser if you never attempt to set the correct date...
