Prior to August 2000 I was your typical family man with a worldwide network of cyber friends, rapidly scrambling up the corporate ladder, wowing my supervisor with my innovative utilization of engineering application programs.


Then I found VirtualDr and the error of my ways was made clear. There was a revelation that I was entranced by the life of promiscuous, unprotected email and that I was wallowing in the gutter of IT materialism. Since that time I have installed 3 regedits cleaning (all free), 4 virus scanning (all free), 5 walls protecting (all free) and a partridge in a pear tree (woops! My prose got a little carried away there).


Shall we say I was "downsized" from my job for VirtualDr proselytizing and for repeated and vociferous protestations that they were operating with only 1 virus scanner and 1 firewall which they paid! big bucks for!


I'm considering allowing the wife and kids back in the house once the computer vault is completed. Does anyone know where I can get a residential electromagnetic shield (free) and indefinitely borrow a light bulb intrusion scanner. Also, I've told my mother I'd remove her from my "Block Senders List" if she would install just one virus scanner and firewall.


I now spend my days doing semi-hourly runs of scandisk (thorough), defrag, virus scan and pursuing IP addresses of hackers that ping my firewalls. Each day I attack resource hogs and TweakUI my machine to new levels of efficiency. Unfortunately, my machine will no longer run any productive apps. In between visits to the food bank, I stake out high traffic street corners with my "The End of the Information Age is At Hand" sign and handout VirtualDr tracts.
