I'm going to upgrade the memory of a Sony Vaio vpcj12loe from 3gb to 8gb from Crucial where I gave them my exact model No.vpcj12loe, and they offered DDR3L PC3L-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3L-1600 • 1.35V •memory kit of 8gb 2x 4gb chips. But the memory installed on this pc is pc3-8500-1066.Are they right that I can use this higher speed.

Specs- win 7 home premium 64 bit sp1 Intel core i3 [email protected] ghz 3gb ram Intel hd graphics. Sony Vaio vpcj12loe all in one touch screen desktop pc.:)
The DDR3L-1600 is what Crucial says should work.

However, if you are going to use that, I would replace ALL of the memory with the faster DIMMS so as not to have issues.

Crucial 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM should do the trick just fine. Now to make it really move, add a SSD drive.

Installed ram and done a clean install of win10 but I have two yellow marks in device manager: Other devices- Base System Device and Unknown device. Can anyone advise how to fix this as there is no support from Sony for win10

You can run PCI-Z to find out what the unknown hardware might be.

If anything, you can try the Win7 drivers first. I don't see drivers listed for Win8 or 8.1. If those don't work, you'll have to track down the drivers elsewhere.

I downloaded PCI-Z and checked the box for it to run but nothing happened, does it run in background, cant see any trace of it running. What should I do now?
I didn't think for a second that there would be no support from Sony for win10, I wont get caught again with that, sorry for all the trouble:(
Got PCI-Z To run and it came up with a Ricoh mem card reader driver which I installed but the two yellow marks still remain in device manager.
In properties it says code 28 and locations PCI bus 3, device 0, function 1 on LPC Controller
For PCI-Z portable, you need to extract the app first, then run PCI-ZPortable.exe. I'm guessing you figured that out.
PCI-Z didn't give you a clue about the unknown devices? We can't help you if you don't provide more details.
Manufacturers are not obligated to support Win10 on older systems. That's why you need to look before you leap.
If I extracted the app it was by accident, I 'd gave up on it but somehow a list appeared with the ricoh driver.
What details do you need my computerskills are not very good I don't even use apps:confused:
When you first run PCI-ZPortable_1.3_English.paf.exe, it creates a PCI-ZPortable folder and extracts the program files. Then you run PCI-ZPortable.exe from the PCI-ZPortable folder. It should create a report of what devices are in your computer.
You can click Report > Export to File. It will prompt you to save the <computername>-PCI-Z.txt file. Save it to the Desktop. Open the <computername>-PCI-Z.txt and then copy/paste it to the forum.
If you can post some screen captures of Device Manager and PCI-Z displays showing the unknown devices information, that might help.
