[RESOLVED] The Display On The Screen Is To Small

4 GHz Memory

I was trying to make a picture of my grand daughter smaller for a screen saver on Windows 10. The picture was on Picasa 3 and was to big. I attached the picture to and e-mail and I was able to make it smaller so it fit. When I tried to do the same thing on the XP computer. Whatever I did to make the picture smaller (I didn't keep track of my steps like an idiot) it didn't work. The picture is still to large but the screen display was reduced by 25% and I cannot even read what shows up on the screen. It is to small. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info and I can provide it I will.

If I remember right, a few times I had to boot to safe mode and set it there then boot to Windows and do the final adjustments there.

I know how to change the screen resolution. Unfortunately things are so small I cannot find that particular one. I will keep trying!

Did you try booting into Safe Mode and changing the resolution there, as Train suggested? If yes, what happened?

I did and it did not make a difference. All of the graphics were to small to read. I also could not fine the screen that matched the screen that shows how to change the display. I don't know that if in the smaller state it is different but I could never find the screen that has the slider to change the size. I do remember finding a screen that said to reduce the size I picked 25% and that was a mistake! But I don't know where that was. I think it had to do with something in e-mail because that is where I was looking to make the picture smaller. But I couldn't tell you where that was. I am not being much help I know. I even tried to hook up the computer to a 50" t.v. to make things bigger but that didn't work.

Right click any blank spot on the Desktop, choose Properties, then the Settings tab, then the Advanced button. You can set the DPI in there.

If you enter "desk.cpl" into the Run command box, it will run the Control Panel utility that you need to change display settings.

I can't get or can't read the Run command box. If I right click on the desk top I get screen that I can't read but I know the bottom one is the properties one. I then get a screen which I can't make out that has 5 tabs at the top but I can't tell if one of them is the settings tab. I found some display images for XP but they don't match or show what I am looking for. (XP display properties)

To get the Run command, you should just be able to click Start, then Run. The Run box only has one place to enter a command. You should be able to click on that and delete whatever is there and enter desk.cpl, then click the OK button (leftmost button), even if you can't read any of what is being displayed.

Once you get to the display settings window, just click on each tab until you see something that looks like a slider for the resolution.

If any of this is a problem, post some screen captures of what you are seeing.

To bring up the Run dialog box, while holding down the [Winkey], (the key with the Windows logo on it), tap the [R] key. Now type in desk.cpl and press the [Enter] key. The setting tab should be the right-most tab, then the Advanced button should be down on the bottom right.

If still no luck, is the display any larger in Windows Safe mode?

The rightmost tab in the desktop properties window is the display settings.

You may be able to increase the size of the display properties window by using magnifier.

Click start>run and type magnifier. That will temporarily magnify the whole desktop until you turn magnifier off.

Obviously I am sending this from another computer. If I hold down the "windows" key and press "R" nothing happens.
If I press on the "start" key I get a partial screen in the left hand lower corner that goes about half way up the side and it says "windows xp professional and there are about 10 icons vertically there. So I don't see the "run" box. I tried repositioning that screen with no luck. Since I can't get to the "run" box I can't type in "magnifier". I don't know if this does anything but if I right click on the "start" button I get a screen with nine choices.

Try a different monitor.
