I sure would not mess with Win 7.
Are you using one of the new fancy telephones with all the tiles on the face? If yes, then Win 8 might work for you.
By the way, there is no start button either.
No fancy phone, not necess in my life, just a simple one when i need it.
I am aware of that start button as well, heard you had to install a pack or something if you wanted it.
What should i take vista up to it's 32bit?? where i have 64 bit win 7 on the lt
I really don't use the desk top hardly at all. what do i have to do to put win 7 64 bit on the vista 32 bit?
Desktop mode is already there. You need to use a third party app if you want to boot to the desktop.Quote:

You have to do a clean install. You cannot upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit.Quote:

Start a Clean Install Using an Upgrade Licensed Copy of Windows 8

not sure what you meant, unless i got you confused with the lap top and desk top?
Windows 8 has two different user interfaces, "Metro" (|"Tiles"|"Modern"), like this:

and then the "Desktop" mode that looks similar to previous versions, like so:

So do you go to control panel to use either? Why would you want to use desktop, without a start menu or the tiles or bricks? How do you function on the desktop?
What do you mean twice? The third party addons don't create another desktop. It adds the Start button to the existing Desktop mode.
There's only one 'Desktop'. When you're on the 'Metro' page, you click the Desktop icon (that wide baby blue tile with the flowers on it in the bottom left corner of the Metro screenshot above) which switches you to the older Desktop UI (User Inferface) page.

There are a lot of tutorials out there. Try googling some up. No sense reinventing the wheel.
if it has a typical windows 7 d top don't need it twice?
if windows pro 8 looks like windows 7 i don't need to buy it again, "typical desktop from windows 7"
No, it doesn't. The default is Metro/Modern with the tiles. It is completely different. It's really meant for touch screens.Quote:

If you like the desktop how it is, stick with Vista or upgrade to 7. Windows 8 is a different animal.
