I have an EPSON STYLUS NX515 that was working fine until I replaced the cyan cartage
with an off brand. After I replaced the cartage the next photo came out fine then the rest
keep coming out with a red hue all over the photo. Could a cartage do this or is it time
to get a new printer.

I would suspect the cartridge first. An easy test would be to purchase a genuine Epson cartridge, install it, run a cleaning cycle, and then see what happens when you try to print something.
I will try that. Just in case my printer is dead what is a good printer with scanner to buy that has the
least ink costs. I am looking at HP Printer because they sell an extra large cartage. The printer must
be capable to print from an IPHONE 5. I do not want a super expensive one. Under $125 or close.

If you do many color photos, I would stick with Epson. My Epson Artisan 730 All-in-One Printer does a excellent job.

In researching the problem I found out Epson printers have a

I am looking at 3 HP all-in-one printers. They are the Photosmart
models 5520, 6520, and 7520. The 7520 is on sale at the
HP store for $ 149 and free shipping. It has a higher resolution
then the first two but is also bigger which I do not favor.
Any comments on these printer will be welcome. HP does not use
a permanent built-in print head, but will pictures be as good as
with the epson?

I went to the web site for the HP 7520. What does this mean: "The last page has info you may not like"
I know it has no ethernet connection. Is that what you mean?
I ruled out the HP 7520 because it uses 5 ink cartridges, one being a photo black. and the machine is
TOO big.
I like the HP 6520. It uses the usual 4 cartridges and is not to big. The resolution of 4800 x 2400 is fine.
What are your thoughts.

I find your web site interesting. I see no reason not to buy the 6520. But does the fuzzy photos from the 7520 apply
to the 6520 as well? That could be a reason not to buy.

My Epson printer was wireless but I also have a Cannon MP 190 printer that is not wireless.
I wanted a wireless printer. I have a Samsung 2525W laser printer that is wireless.
Most of my printing is done in black and the laser printer seems to last forever with
the toner. I can live without a wireless color printer so I will just use the Cannon printer.
I called Epson support and discussed them replacing that printer free. This same printer
had the same problem before is was off warranty and they replaced it. Their permanent
built in print head system is the problem. They go bad you might as swell junk the printer
because fixing it cost more than a new one and the problem will keep re-occurring.
They of course refused to help me so a am done with epson printers and I told them that.

I want to interject something here. I, like, Train use Epson printers and have used this since my first printer, a dot matrix. I've only had one problem and it was fixed by doing a search on Epson's website, in troubleshooting section. The ink pad inside gets full and won't printer anymore. If you use some papertoweling to soak up the ink the printer will contiinue to fuction like it did before the pad got full. Memory is some problems with Epson printers also but knowing how to fix that is the easiest way to get your printer working again. I also have an email from Epson tellihng me how to reset the memory.
I'm sorry you're having problems and refuse to use Epson every again. But if you're looking for an all in one HP, might I suggest looking at their line of PhotoSmart printers. The newest ones are almost as good for photos as my Epson is.
All the HP printers come no where close in color quality of Epson. And HP uses more ink. Which does add to the cost.
Just my experience and as photolady brought out, Epson does have a real good troubleshooter on line. So, as for the HP printers, all I can do is point out the reviews.

Where do I go to find out how to clean the ink pad.
