[RESOLVED] This ASUS A53U-AS22 is terribly slow

I RMAed it back to Newegg from whom I bought the ASUS with this major complaint. They said they benchmarked for 8 hours and the results were without any problems so they returned it me. What, if anything, might I do to get more speed while surfing; etc. More RAM? It has 4GB installed; and with I do with a computer, 4GB should be far more than I need. Should I consider upping it to 6GB? PSU is a dual core; is that sufficient? I have just 8 of my apps installed including Malwarebytes and AV and I removed the factory installed junk apps as I had no use for them. I am constantly getting WARNING HIGH PSU window when I am watching a simple video(not a movie) on youtube, as an example. Not another app is seen running--the vid only.The PC is as lean as I know to make it--with only the barest apps installed. This Notebook is not, and will not be heavily used. Used only for those seldom trips I, we, take.
I have Wired Cable and the highest speed available, short of coax. Road Runner Lightening is what I use. (40+Mbps download and 5+Mbps upload)
Newegg told me if I continue with these problems then I should be in contact with ASUS!! (My 30 day free help from Newegg is over). I feel Newegg has been fair to me but my compiant still exists !!. As always, TIA.

Your performance problem has nothing to do with ram. This portable is equipped with an E-450 APU, which is roughly equivalent to an Intel Atom. You should view this laptop has a netbook with a large screen. This type of processor is good for playing multimedia videos files, but will be slow at anything else, including the internet.

That is a terribly slow cpu it seems.

That first lapper I had was about twice as fast.

It appears that I have two choices: one is to live with the slowness of this Netbook OR consider a better PSU and even then I don't know if this is an answer. I'll be listening for any and all responses.

If you want more speed, there is only 1 way, and it is to replace this computer by a faster one. The only alternative is to live with the slowness of this computer.

Well, I won't be getting rid of this netbook; I don't have the money to waste so guess I will just live with the slowness.
BTW, why do you think the AV and Malwarebytes may be causing this slowness. If you have a valid reason, then perhaps I may consider substituting either or both of these apps with something else. Slow or no slow, I won't compromise my contents on this PC for speed even though it is seldom used.

AV - possibly could be slowing things down.
Malwarebytes - Free version is no problem.

Thanks Train. I will check tomorrow to see what AV I am using. The notebook is where I left it 2 weeks ago when I came back from a Jacksonville visit. Haven't even turned it on. Haven't missed the slowness either. BTW, if the AV is Nortons 360 then yes, that may be contributing to the slowness and RAM usage.

Well, Nortons 360 is installed on the machine. It does such a seemingly good job I may leave it there. I mean, how much can it be affecting the slownes of this PC?! Guess I could experiment and install the free Avast.

Or go with MSE. Which I have used for several years.

May just take you up on that suggestion. Avast can be a bit clunky when updating tho' it is good. Have been updating the netbook tonight so I should be ready to try the MSE offering tomorrow.
