Homegroups
I want to setup a Homegroup so I can share files between my two computers. Both are running Windows 7 home BUT when I try to setup the homegroup on one computer the other one doesn't show that there is a homgroup to join. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Yeah I tried step by step but some some reason neither of my PC's see the other in the network. I tried creating a Homegroup on one PC and join onthe other but the homegroup isn't visible on the second PC. I also tried doing that the opposite way and I still have the same problem. Could it have something to do with the router or the router settings not allowing the PC's to see each other?

The router is not the cause.

Do you have any third party firewall apps?
-
That would be my guess too, you have a 3rd party firewall. I've never known one yet that didn't break something

THe only firewalls that I know of on my PC are the one that comes with windows and possibly the router firewall.

What antivirus is installed. If a suite give the name.

Can you at least ping the other computer?
-
The other computer isn't showing up in my group at all.
-
But did you try pinging the other box? If you can't even ping it, then it won't show up on your homegroup.
Are you using the same workgroup name? Might as well try some old school networking tactics.

When i try to create a group on my PC it never even gives me the option to name it, is it supposed to?
As far as pinging the other computer, I am not even sure how to do that. Care to tell me how?
Thanks.

Both systems should use the same workgroup name.
To ping, open a command prompt window. Type "ping computername" (no quotes, substitute your other computer's name for computername). You can also "ping ipaddress". You should get a reply (see following link).

Ok I pinged the other computer. Here is what I got. Both PC's are under the workgroup named WORKGROUP.
