Need some help! Issues.
Hmm. Well it's been quite a while 'since I have been on this site. I've been having some issues with the computer I built a while ago with the help of you guys. Well, recently, a couple of friends and I decided putting a full-revamp-of-the-system kind of skin on my computer. Basically, it is Windows Vista now, without the OS itself. When the computer even starts up, it says Windows Vista, not Windows XP.
The issue:
I'm not quite sure if it's randomly, or if it's when I'm playing certain songs on itunes, or what, but I get the blue screen, the computer turns off, and I have to wait the better part of 20 minutes, turning the computer on and off and on and off over and over, until the bios finally comes up.
Are these two seperate issues that need to be adressed? Oh, and also, I randomly get when I try to start the computer up, "BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR" I think? and it randomly starts booting from alternative things, and it never works, so I just continue to start and turn off the computer, until it boots.
Help!
Thanks in advance!

The checksum error means the mobo battery is dying, replacing it will get rid of the error message.
If you have automatically reboot unticked in startup and recovery then the system should show you the bluescreen, it shouldn't shutdown in any case, as if auto restart is ticked then it should restart, not shutdown.

actually, all my caselights stay on and everything runs, it just gives no response to the keyboard, monitor, mouse, etc. but why doesn't it turn back on after one reboot?
-
This could be linked to the CMOS problem, replace the CMOS battery and make sure auto restart is unticked and see how things go.

sorry for the biggest noob question, but where do I find the tick for Auto-Reboot?

My Computer|Right-Click|Properties|Advanced Tab|Startup and Recovery - Settings|Untick it.

Open System Properties via Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System
[ System Properties may also be opened using the WinKey+Pause key combination ]
Select the Advanced tab and then click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section
In System Failure section, clear the checkbox next to Automatically Restart
Click OK and OK to exit

okay, but do you think there is any way of eliminating the blue-screen, because i seem to get it ALL the time... I think It's because of the Vista skin, it revamped a lot, and screwed with my system files. Should I re-install windows? And where do you think I could pick up a battery for my mobo?
-
That should give you the error message instead of rebooting at the blue screen. We need the complete message.

If auto restart was still ticked, then untick it, see if you get the bluescreen, and then if you do it will stay on the screen long enough for you to jot it down, and post it back here, the code does actually mean something, but MS could of made it a little bit easier to translate.

Oh, okay, good. But I usually only see the blue screen for a split second.. so I'm not sure. But since it takes hours for the computer to actually start, and many attempts of pressing the damn power button, this is the battery, correct? where do I pick up another one.

As you're in yankeeland i'd wait for Train to beat me again, i'd get one from a jewellers over here...as it's just a large 3v watch battery.
