Just curious what you all think will happen on Tuesday. This is a poll for what you think will happen....not what you want to happen....so no fighting. :D
Republicans lose the House, keep the Senate, but lose the keys to the Senate executive bathrooms.
Too many things have to fall into place for the Democrats to take over one branch of the legislature, let alone both. The way the country's been divided so evenly for the last 15 years, I think the alignment will stay the same, with smaller margins.
How about that John Kerry, eh? I'm waiting for him to blame Karl Rove for his foot-in-mouth disease. I certainly never expected him to be the Republicans' "October surprise."
I figure the Dems grab the House with even some seats to spare. Not a commanding advantage, but majority alone is enough to control committees and appointments.
Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House?
The Senate is a closer call.....and I figure the Reps hang on by the skin of their teeth....and there WILL be recounts I assure you. Too much riding on this one......
In addition to recounts....I have a couple more predictions....
1. There will be accusations of fraud and errors with computerized voting systems. (people still don't trust our little silicon-based friends)
2. If the Dems take the House as I think they will....there will be months of investigations aimed at the Prez. (Revenge for the Clinton impeachment most likely....)
3. One year after the election we will still be complaining that our government is crooked no matter who wins. :p
Kerry is a dope, that was apparent even before he stuck his foot in his mouth.
I remember his early career, when he shopped around three congressional districts before he decided to challenge in one and he got his a$$ kicked; and in 1982 when running for lieutenant governor he told a Boston Globe reporter that he promised to serve his full four-year term. What a BS artist. Ed Brooke was already in political trouble, and Kerry was rumored to have something to do with the nursing-home allegations that made him decide to retire from the Senate.
I end my rant here before I really get started on him!
No matter what your political leanings......please get out and vote.....
It's majorly embarassing for the US to be talking about spreading democracy...building democracy....protecting democracy....and then have a population too lazy to get off their collective butts and vote. I have been around and eligible to vote for about 50 elections now (2 per year) and I can honestly say I have only missed about two, for various reasons...(one I was in intensive cardiac care).
Every election I see the turnout and it goes something like this.....
Half of the elligible people are registered to vote....and of those, only half voted. My math says that's one-quarter of the people are showing up at the polls year after year.
So get out there and vote....and don't make me come back here again to taunt you a second time.....
:p :D
I predict a bunch of lying, ineffectual, and basically dishonest and impotent people will be elected to each office, and that essentially nothing will change, whatsoever.
I stopped voting for a little while because it was too much to stand in line for these old legs of mine ;)
But, now I qualify for absentee ballots so ... there is always a way.
:)
I can't remember the last time I had to stand in a line.....there's never anybody there.............
I think the majority of the population votes around here ... there are always lines.... no matter what time you go.
Hate to say it, but the voting ethic seems to mirror the general work ethic based on age. One of the things I find heartening here in Florida is how many people take advantage of the right to vote. Polling places here routinely have a 20-30 minute wait in line.
It's also interesting to me how the most jaded or cynical voters (who think, ahem, that nothing will change no matter who's elected, or that, ahem, all politicians are crooks) all seem to be in Democrat-dominated states. :) Post hoc, ergo propter hoc?
Hi,
I have been working in the voting booths as a judge for the last 4 years now and I have found that the largest majority of voters are the Asians, Spanish, and Europians that have come over here in the last 10 - 20 years. I'm in Northern California and the largest of the above groups are the Asians. Second and third generations in some cases.
We all need to vote or those of us that do vote will say I TOLD YOU SO if someone gets in that they didn't like.
Everyone, get out and vote. Even in Florida every vote counts, 1, 2, or 3 times.
Cheers mac
I also spent some time working the elections on the inspector board many years ago....
I noticed back then that older people were more likely to vote than younger ones. Can't say if that trend still holds now as I am only in there for few minutes and really only see the inspectors and judges working there.
Unless you are a brain surgeon in the middle of a 12-hour emergency operation....I hardly think you can find an excuse to not find the time to get in and vote..... ;)
This what JP posted: I predict a bunch of lying, ineffectual, and basically dishonest and impotent people will be elected to each office, and that essentially nothing will change, whatsoever.
To that I say, that is what is there already---turn all of them out and start fresh. And I have no argument if both houses want to talk about impeaching Bush--he deserves no better. He is at the top of the list and take out those in leadership(?) roles below him.
House: Dems----Senate: I can only hope Dems. It's gonna be close in the Senate, I believe.
For those of you who don't/didn't like lines, could you have voted 5 days early. We did and only took about 10 minutes and we in Florida had amendments to consider. But no lines!!! And we chose paper ballots over the use of touch screens.
