Very interesting. Still, pretty close to the original though. I saw a few little add-on effects on the exterior shots of the vessels. Now I wanna watch that episode! thanks Maxx. LOL
It was one of the best episodes too..... :)
It's my understanding that the guy who made that test video pitched it to the studios a couple times....
Here is what he says on his website:

What is Star Trek: Enhanced?
Several years ago, I had the idea of going back and augmenting the original Star Trek series by using HD masters and replacing the original visual effects with state-of-the-art effects. Not by changing anything crucial to the story, but by using modern effects techniques to make shots more dynamic or “realistic” and still have them fit the style and mood of the original show. It was pitched to the studio in early 2001, and then again in 2003. Now, in 2006, The project is being done by CBS/Paramount. Though, without my involvement. This site is intended to give a glimpse at what could have been through commentary on the new shows, and clips of past work.
I know some TOS purists would have a conniption at the thought of enhancing the original.....but I don't have a problem with it. Then again...I didn't have a problem with Ted Turner colorizing old B&W movies either.... :D
Well I had a huge problem with colorizing, that made me livid. But this, I dunno. Long as there were still the untouched versions available, it might not bother me.
Windom's performance as Decker was fantastic in that episode, but he says that what we see was actually pieced together from bits of a bunch of takes. That it wasn't really as good as the final mosaic that was shown. It was masterful editing.
But in this case, the enhancements were subtle and added to the overall impact, so maybe even trekkies wouldn't mind. Not like colorizing a whole B&W classic film
That is pretty kewl :D ... thanks Maxx
......... and I didn't mind the b&w's being colored ... they still kept the originals in tact so you had a choice :D
JP.....
I know you don't go in for any of the sequel series like TNG and DS9....but you owe it to yourself to watch the DS9 episode of Trials and Tribble-ations.
In the same vein as the video in this thread....it invloved editing the original TOS episode. The way they meshed the DS9 people into the original was genius.....and pretty much seamless. It's worth watching if just for the technical aspects of digital editing.....
That I would like to see. However I dun't have a clue as to how to know when that particular epi is on.

Yeah....catching it on TV would be tough. Currently....there are no channels on my cable system running any DS9 shows. Just TNG and TOS.....Quote:

Thanks for teaser, kitten..... ;)
That bar brawl was hysterical.
I recall seeing an interview with a couple of the DS9 actors...and they remarked about the bar brawl scene they were going to be inserted into. In TOS.....fighting was pretty much street-fighting type moves, but in later shows like TNG and DS9....fighting was always portrayed with martial arts in mind. All the flips, spins and balance maneuvers.....and the actors were used to those.
For the DS9 Tribbles show they had to learn wild roundhouse punches and the like. In a sense...a less sophisticated form of fighting had to be taught to the actors and stunt men...then choreographed. In short....brawling..... :D
Well some of the TOS fights were like that too, but what I liked about this was, it was supposed to be a bar brawl, and that's exactly how they staged it! Like a good old fashioned donnybrook. Ah, brought back memories. Besides, those types of choreographed fights are far more comical.
Except for the Klingons/Worf :DQuote:
