I hope I understood correctly when I tried to send an email at "contact us" and it said that general support questions should be posted to the forum. At least that was the way I read it.
Anyway, I have had to go to check the thread on the forum to see if I had received a reply because the email notification didn't come. And I have it set to receive email notification.
Yahoo for example thinks most mail from sites like this is spam and blocks them...Nothing we can do about it..
Who is your ISP?
Might look in you online spam folder if you have one.
What Steve said. Btw, you can use the contact us link for any issues with the forum itself, of which this would be considered one. That disclaimer is for those who just email PC support questions instead of joining the forum and posting them here.
Verizon, and AOL routinely block all our emails, and yahoo blocks many, also drops some with no particular reason.

I don't have Yahoo nor any of the others you mentioned. My ISP is a local job. I have spam blocker. Your emails are not going there. I should have explained that I get them sometimes and sometimes not. I meant that sometimes they plain don't come. Sorry for not being entirely clear.
So what can you do to make sure I get them all the time? Or what can I do?
Double ditto, you may want to try a different e-mail address to test it.
It works fine for me using a Gmail account, and if you PM me i'll invite you to Gmail if you like?

Nothing that I can think of. I know they go out, albeit sometimes delayed. Maybe you can call your email SP and ask if they have a white list, and if so to put vdr on it?
It couldn't possibly be a glitch on your end? I saw the site was down the other night and another night it would work, but really slow. Maybe the email reply to me got lost in the shuffle?
If it's limited to that time period then it's possible but generally when the server goes down, when it's up again the emails all go out in bunches. If it continues we'll know it wasn't related to that.
So far it's holding to that pattern. For instance, I got this notification in my email and I didn't get the others when the site was down. But you're right. We'll have to wait to get more evidence.
You realize you'll only get an email for the 1st new post to each thread since your last visit. In other words, if there are 5 new posts in a thread you're subscribed to, you'll only get an email for the 1st one, until you visit the site again.
I see. I was confused since I was getting two replies sometimes even though I had only made one post. In other words, I got email replies from two different people on the same post.
Could the problem have something to do with the timezone you have selected? As you're in the U.S correct? and you're time zone is set to GMT....not sure if that will matter though....

I had a problem where I was not getting email notices about 4-6 months ago, but now I am getting them just fine. My email address has been the same since 2002, which is a Yahoo address.
There may be another issue, which is where email drops into a black hole.
More and more ISPs are implementing automated spam filtering systems. Unfortunately, many of these systems use content filtering, which is based on common words, so inadvertently a lot of legitimate email is blocked. Spammers are using more and more common words, so the anti-spam solutions are incorporating these words.
Typically, when an automated anti-spam solution blocks an email, there is no bounce email message to the sender nor is the recipient notified.
Here is my solution and it is what I recommend to my clients, friends and associates.
Opt-out of all anti-spam solutions with your ISP, other POP3 accounts and web accounts. All of my POP3 accounts are routed to Mailwasher Pro, http://www.firetrust.com/, and I can preview my email in a minute or so. Now mind you, I get 200 - 300 email messages a day.
There will be some email messages, which do not have a status code of either "friend" or "blacklist", so I will have to select the status code. Likewise, there will be 1-2 email messages, which are false positives or false negatives; and for these I change the status code.
Then I click to download to OE and the junk does not get downloaded.
My VDR notifications go to my Yahoo account and I go to the website to check my email. Many of my VDR messages are put into the bulk folder. The spam messages are marked as "read" and I move the legitimate email to my Yahoo Inbox.
Since Yahoo has a 1 GB size limitation, I am recommending that a Yahoo account be used for receiving email. Then if it is email that you want to keep, you can always forward it to your Outlook or Outlook Express account.
I have talked to several telecom broadband experts and they believe that this situation is going to get a whole lot worse. For that reason alone, I think a web account is the only way to go.
