did you try using any of your bootdisks to see if they would boot your old pc,sounds like maybe your new floppy is bad,if it boots your old pc then just use the old floppy in the new pc

OK The disk we made at bootdisk.com for a Win 98SE gives me this error.
Non system disk or disk error. Strike any key when ready.

We knew no better and made one from a Win 95 machine using my 98 CD and it actually booted. Said Microsoft Windows 95 (copyright bla bla bla)

Mosaic you would have to email the file to Texas Angel. Then she could copy it to a floppy and give it to me. Would that work ?

I have one more avenue here to look and see if I can get my hands on a Win 98 machine.

No flames to you, misery (you meant well https://discussions.virtualdr.com/), but that WD boot disk that comes with the hard drive has tools on it, but not what you need to fdisk/format the drive---it has an "overlay" program (EZ-Install) that you DON"T want to use. HOWEVER, it also has the ATA drivers for the hd, which we'll put on right after Windows is installed (if necessary--probably will be).

Belay that second half of my post above---the mobo CD should have better drivers for that. Think we'll use those.

Got two different versions there. Some of the files are from the system, others come off the CD if necessary. You need to use a 98 machine to make that disk. I'll have to ask again just to be sure...when you power up the machine, is the floppy light burning constantly?

Let me ask something else: did your mobo come with any device cables (i.e. a floppy cable)? If so, use that cable, not the original one.

OK. Just a suggestion about this fiasco. If i am not mistaken, windows 98 SE comes in the form of a bootable CD. Now if your Bios supports it, then you should be able to change your settings (under setup) to choose which device to boot from first, or what order to boot. Try booting from the cdrom, then you can mess with your floppy later. Hope this helps.

OK I even went to Princessdi and tried to make one but her CDROM would not accept mine.
SO I did get to bootdisk.com and make another one from her machine. Still non sysstem disk.
The only one so far is that one made on TexA's 95 machine from my CD, which brought up the A:\>
