I'm not going back out there!
Why we have ours done by the weekend before Thanksgiving. CROWDS Plus the weather is generally better.
My idea being I hate crowds that press.
Berlin Germany was not as bad as a mall.
Besides I did my window shopping from a nice comfy warm dry position https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Hmmmmm.....seems to be some grumbling over Compaq proprietary parts! What most people on this forum ( and others like it) fail to realize, (or remember) is that OEM Computer manufacturers build their computers for the other 99.8% of the population. They build computers for people who either have no interest or inclination towards upgrading or rebuilding their current system. Most people use thier computers for three years and buy new. Financially, its still in the OEM's best interest to offer products that allow only minimal upgrades which require OEM tech support.
On another point. Would you believe I just fixed a Presario that only had a 70 Watt power supply!
70 watts??? Hokey schmoke. Why, why, why? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
sdtech: full agreement. But I've seen too many folks here, at the 98 Forum and others who get upgrade fever, but are stymied with the propietary parts. Others went out and bought parts without checking to see if the Compaq system would "accept" them, then wonder why "it's not working right"---sometimes related to the weak power supply. It's frustrating to say the least.
Very true and wanting to put second harddrive into this one, is the reason I am Investigating before I buy. Now, would any ps do or does it take a special?
I figure if it run good with 80 then a 200 ot thereabouts maybe more than adequate.

Haven't worked on them. sdtech? From what I've seen in searches, they appear to indicate that it takes a Compaq-specific power supply. At least the older models do--not sure about the latest.

sdtech, I agree with you on what most people do and it's not just with computers. We live more and more in a spectator age that wants to use something alrready made. We here on the other hand, or some of us want to know why and how. Why - knowledge.
