"Windows has detected spyware infection!" Balloon popup

Some other stuff has happen since I posted the last log to you. The machine was running well while I was working on it, but the Hard drive was constantly running as I mentioned before. I left it to take a nap, when I came back Notorn had a popup icon listing a number of adware and trojan viruses that were trapped and proccessd on the machine. It was more than 20 of them. It asked to reboot the machine to continue cleaning and I did. After rebooting the norton icon is missing the blutooth device is not functioning due to some service prevented from opertion as stated within the startup. I decided to run malwarebytes and superspyware again. Malwarebytes did not find anything. In the middle of running spywareware and it already caught some adware cookies.

I have done as you instructed to run regedit from the start menu and it will not run. Neither gmer will run when I click on it from the desktop. However I opened a DOS command prompt for both and they opened. Regedit listed the directory with just one object with in it. I cannot delete the directory or the object. However when I look in the registry using gmer registry tab, it listed five objects in red: group, imagepath, start, and type. I cannot delete any of them what should I do?

I think, it's time to get rid of Norton.
I suspect, it's responsible for HD activity.
If you want to go along with my advice, let me know.

Well the HD acitivity have completely stopped, however the norton icon is mssing from the taskbar, I can not start it from the start menu. I assume it's still protecting the machine or not. Well lately it has been giving me problems in terms of it's liveupdate and should it have protect my machine from this malware. What can I put in it's place. Can it do a better job, what is the drawback, and what is the cost.

Second how can I remove this registry item.

This is another reason, I suspect, Norton 9is messing up your computer.

Turn Windows firewall on.
Download, and install ONE of these:
- Avast! free antivirus: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html
Update, run full scan, and post fresh HJT log.

Do either of them provide a firewall just as norton does?

How is hard drive activity?
Where exactly can you see tdssserv.sys?
Try running Malwarebytes one more time.

The HD activity is back to normal.

I see that file within the registry and there are multiples files assocaite with it. I tried to delete the registry items, but can't do it. I'll run malwarebytes again.

Now, if can explain to me where exactly can you see tdssserv.sys.

When I followed your instructions in regedit I found it in the registry within the path you specified. Gmer registry tab lists multiple subfolders within it.

"Registry Editor will open.
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services
Delete any key in right pane, which contain TDSSserv.sys name
Delete any subfolder (left pane), which contain TDSSserv.sys name"
