That is what I did too. Was not anything on that start page, I needed anyway. ;)Quote:

Yeah there's no www in the actual address, just http://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Sorry folks. I didn't copy and paste the address for Discussions, just typed it in.
I believe I have always used the method first posted by jmtjet and mentioned by others.
Well I don't know if this has anything to do with speed problems on VDr, but a couple of the forums I visited today didn't have the "click here to expand" BS on them and the pages loaded remarkably fast. I was also able to navigate back to the forum index at great speed. Tooo much BS on the forum pages, maybe?????
I'm currently working on a client machine ... It's a PII 233 with 64meg of RAM and a 1.3gig hard drive ... on dial-up. Not that it has a great deal to do with the price of tea in China... but you don't know the meaning of the word SLOW! ;-)
And for those of you out there that run on the above mentioned machine types on a regular basis, I salute you for your patience!
Not likely. That function is just a bit of text, maybe 1-2 lines worth. Wouldn't slow down anything. And it doesn't do anything until you click so the running of the function isn't slowing anything. It's not running during page load.Quote:

Sure, there are times when some facets are a bit slower but we all manage to get "there". There are slow downs on one other forum I visit but it, also, always come through.
Abhoth's words brings home the now painful days of delay when all we had was dialup!!
Hey, perhaps we aren't really complaining---just maybe we are only wanting to continue being one of the best forums on the web----and with good speed. :D
Even though I bit** about the speed, I totally agree.Quote:

People still finding the forum slow?
Yes, for the first time, I had a page lock up in the download process. This happened twice.
