That's the reason I enjoyed Max Payne so much. It didn't have the best graphics in the world (although they were good), but I loved the bullet time, I just couldn't get enough of that. It was great seeing the bullets flying through the air.

Enter the Matrix should have been a great game with the focus ablilty (basically bullet time), but because of a lot of glitches and just some poor gameplay it fell very short of it's potential. I still enjoyed it though, especailly when fighting the "vampires", that was when you could really show off the cool fighting moves the game has.

You know, another great sleeper game was the incredibly underrated Deus Ex. It was an awesome game. You had thousands of ways of getting through a mission. Each way had its consequences and rewards. If you blindly charged through the front gates, killing everyone, you would be scolded because you are a cop. The storyline was cool. Lots of twists and espionage and government corruption. Plus it was in the future. Robots, mechs and other things. Plus you were a nano-cyborg. Good stuff. You can find the Gold/platinum with level editor version for less than $20. Its a super great value

This is a little off topic, however I think that since this is such a popular thread that it might be a good place to find the answer to this question.

Is it illegal to download CD Cracks for games (even if you own the game and do not plan on letting anyone else get tehir hands on it). There are several reasons that I would like to be able to just play the games without use of the CD-ROM drive, however I have been hesitant about getting these programs.

Read the EULA of the game concerned - I can virtually guarantee it will prohibit use of a "no-cd" crack. In which case it is illegal to use one.

Don't know if the PC version was improved but when the PSX version was released Australian Playstation Magazine gave it a rating of 1/10 saying it was one of the worst games they had ever see / played.

Maybe the PSX version was just a bad port.

I've used a number of no-CD cracks in my time, and not afraid to admit it. Must be wary though as they can simply be trojans or other some such nasty.
I would appreciate it if the game makers would find another way... although I do understand their plight. UT2k3 ultimately patched the product so the CD was no longer required. Which I thought was damn nice! A very good PR move... or set it up to ask to see the CD every 5th time you start the game...

What's the big deal with having to put the CD in ?

If you own it, then you've got the CD and putting it in takes, oh, all of 20 seconds maybe ?

NO-CD cracks can also be used for backup cd's that were made in case the original CD gets ruined. As far as I know, backup cd's are allowed, but I am not sure if no-cd cracks are.

It's an ease of use issue Nix... and no, not difficult at all. Have to hunt down the CD, not always an easy task. It's a pain in the arse...

Australia has not banned no cd crack websites because its safe to say. If you are the owner of the original game, and you want to make the CD last longer. You are allowed to download it. Also this would include making backup Cds, therefore it an't illegal :cool:

Mind you I know ways and means of obtaining no cd patches to make my CDs last longer through the websites I know of. I would prefer not to mention where I can find it on this forum.

All I can say is that it isn't illegal to download no cd patches to make your game last longer by running on the hard drive. However, as long you have the original disk of the game, you shouldn't have any hassels because you are the legal owner of the product you have.

Despite the idea of No CD patches, some people do abuse the system and thats where piracy takes in place. Suggest we avoid discussing this matter further :cool:

Ah yes, but unlike game CDs, Televisions cannot be duplicated in a matter of minutes by the average home user for the cost of a CD-R and a few minutes electricty.

My initials are the same as the abbreviation for Sub Machine Gun
