As I mentioned before, you should really be using a boot disc for diags.
You can download UBCD from the link in my signature or you can try Seatools for DOS (link in my previous post).
Either way, you need to burn the .iso as an IMAGE to a CD first. Do NOT just burn the file onto a CD as data.

I did try the boot disk you mentioned Seatools for DOS but when the program opened It said it didn't detect any hard drive.
Hmm that's strange. It should have at least detected a drive was there.
You might need to temporarily set the SATA mode to IDE instead of AHCI/RAID in the BIOS. Run Seatools, and then change the SATA mode back before booting into Windows.

Hmm. That's strange. One possibility is that Seatools doesn't have the drivers for your motherboard's chipset. It's weird that the Windows version couldn't even see the drive it was on.
sorry the seatools for windows did see the drive and showed up falures,it was seatools for dos that didn't detect a drive

What were the exact error codes? If you see a temp sensor error, you can ignore that for non-Seagate brand drives (false positive). If it has errors like bad sectors, then you should replace the drive.
This is what the report said:Unfortunately, your Seagate product has failed an important diagnostic test, possibly caused by problem sectors which are difficult to read. Seagate recommends that you run SeaTools for DOS, which has the ability to repair most problem sectors. SeaTools for DOS may be able to save you from the inconvenience and down time of exchanging the drive.But seatools for dos doesn't detect a drive so how can I fix it.:confused:
Once you start getting bad sectors, it's time to replace the drive. Software can't fix bad hardware. If anything, the software will just mask off the bad sectors as unusable. It will only get worse over time, so it's better to replace the drive sooner than later.
The notebook is only 2 years old, if I have to buy a new drive do I have to buy the exact same Samsung drive for Samsung NP-RF511-A02DX notebook or can anyone suggest a better option.I've never replaced HD on a notebook before.:(
Is the laptop still under warranty?
You don't have to buy the same exact drive. That laptop should take a standard 2.5" SATA drive, but it would help if you gave us the exact hard drive model number.
I've seen way more laptop hard drives go bad than desktop drives.
