Also, was reading the manual on your BOARD. And found that it is limited to 4 IDE devides while the A7V can have 8. Worded wrong, but. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Was looking toward the future.

If I ever need more than 4 IDE devices, I can always get an IDE controller card for 1 or both channels. I got the A7M b/c I wanted the AMD 761 Northbridge controller chip along with the VIA 686B Southbridge chip, and of course the fact that the A7M is one of the highest rated boards for a T'bird processor definitely influenced my buying decision. An expensive board, but very very good.

Good Morning All, Looks like I better save this thread again.
Started a Chipsets and Controller thread Sunday night also to give everyone a decent thread over the disaster of a couple of months ago. Do we need this or not? The thread is on page two of this forum.
