Morning All, Mid forties, light rain. Do you all realize it took approximately thirty posts and supper to open a cardboard box? And lo and behold...... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ And then you stayed up past your bedtimes.
Other comments to follow. Did you expect anything less? Later. Be well.

Good morning. 37 degrees, 10mph winds out of the Northwest. And now the 10 day forecast... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ (just kiddin' ya' greengoose1...)
Just a quick check this morning. The intake fan housing is nice (didn't order a fan with it)--HOWEVER, the instruction sheet says to "just snap the fan in"--takes a standard 3" fan---well...it doesn't "snap" in--basically just wedges in --still a little too loose for my liking. Includes a small "buzzer" PC speaker. Will be installing a 4.5 incher anyway. Didn't have time to check the case for pre-drilled holes for that size (can drill those if need be).
A little more reading revealed that to mount the mobo, you use the included "button" type mobo mounts--just push them through the mounting holes on the mobo into those "dimples"---not bad, but I'll still use those washers between the mobo and the dimples just for peace of mind. QOH, you can find them in little packet--a dozen or so per packet--white, paperthin, about 1/4" diameter. Like I said, didn't order the fans with the system--not sure if they would include the screws for them. I'll be going out today and pick up a few extra 1.25 fine-thread screws (with nuts) to mount the fans.
When you order, you're given the option to order the "instruction sheet"---don't bother. I'll e-mail it to you when the time comes (1 sheet). if you order the fans, order both the intake and exhaust.
QoH: you inquired as to what comes with it--
Self-adhesive footpads
Packet of brackets--enough for 2x CDs, 2x 3.5 drives
Packet of various screws, including a mobo grounding screw
Thumbscrews (optional)--can get the plastic kind at any good computer store
If you order it with a ps, I believe they throw in the power cord.
A nifty cardboard box and styrofoam packing. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
When I do this thing, I'll take notes for you guys as far as any "glitches", improvements, procedural tricks, etc. and post them here.
EDIT: Ok,...just checked with a friend here at work who's worked with the A500 cases---said that you may have to bend in the snaps slightly on that fan housing in order to "snap in" the 3" fan. Will try it just for kicks when I get home. Still will use the larger fan. Might put a strip of air conditioner filter material over the intake holes at the front bottom to keep the dust down.

Snapped and plugged together pretty easy didn't it. Feel proud of yourself gloating is not allowed though https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
bistro
can we put that material on the outside under the plastic cover [out of sight]where it would be easy to get to with out opening it up?

Not gonna whoop ya Train. Just frustrated.
I'm about ready to do this and getting anxious...I've been here, just have had only sporatic minutes all day to pop on. Got a goal and I'm working towards it.
That's great misery ! Nice to hear that is was so easy. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
bistro, checking over the case again ? I'm holding off 'till I know you're satisfied with the fan mounting business.
Did you mean it comes with a fan if you get the power supply but we still needed the extra heatsink fan. Is there a difference in intake and exhaust fans like the rotation of the blades or direction ? What I have on my list is the Global win heatsink / fan.

Q_O_H
1St your post:
Did you mean it comes with a fan if you get the power supply but we still needed the extra heatsink fan.
A computer normally today has a minimum of 2 fans. 1 in powersupply and 1 on cpu. This case comes with the option [factory made] for 2 more. 1 blowing in and 1 blowing out. I for one will add the 1 blowing out the rear. Bistro will be adding a bigger one in the rear, blowing out and will have to modity the case. [remember when we were talking about using shape carges, nibblers, this is what we were refering to. Taking a 3' hole and make a 4" out of it.
Is there a difference in intake and exhaust fans like the rotation of the blades or direction ? Normally, I just take the blade off and turn it over.
What I have on my list is the Global win heatsink / fan. This is for the cpu
I think bistro is thinking about heating things up a little bit. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ o/c and/or new video card https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Yeah...here's some more observations, addendums and dum-dums concerning this case:
1. Was wrong earlier concerning the mobo config--misread the parts sheet--you will need mobo offset screws. the ones in your current system should do, BUT you'll need to remove one and check to see if it's the right size for those "dimples" in the new case. Included in the accessory packet is 1 mobo "grounding screw"--looks just like an offset screw--that's the size you need for the mounting; perhaps with a slightly longer threadpiece. I have offset screws, but some of them are too narrow for the mounts. The ones on my current system should be OK though--will just use them.
2. Will be putting the large fan on the front as intake, smaller one in back for exhaust. When you order this case, recommend getting the two intake/exhaust fans with it. My 3" fan doesn't quite "snap" into the front fan housing--I assume the fans they supply will. (The two fans will be 3-inchers). QOH: Most fans have an embossed arrow on them showing the air flow direction. If not, the side with the label on it is usually the air flow direction.
3. Comes with a "key flap" you install--just a small flap that attaches to the back so you can lock the side panel to keep prying hands out of the case. Can take it or leave it.
4. Also comes with 6 metal I/O panels--to cover any unused slot openings in the back; with screws.
May be doing this on Friday. Will take copius notes...or would you rather wait? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Hello World, I surface form the far reaches of....... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Nice write ups Bistro. I could see what you were explaining. My vote would be for you to explain as you go along in the same detail you have started with. QoH and I can copy and paste the specific comments into a file for future use/review. Think where you got yours is where QoH and I should go. I will have to oder by mail anyway. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

I don't think it will bother me either way.
Would you say this is a good time to add a promise card? Or maybe later when I add a cd-rw. Just mant to keep the complexity down on the primary/secondary ide hookups. Or am I out the window.

HERE. Went with the least expensive UPS--got here in four days. Like mentioned before, order with the two fans, can add the thumbscrews if desired or get the plastic type at a computer store (recommend them for easy access), a 300w power supply. Checking out the instruction sheet right now to see if I can get a decent scan--then I'll email it to you both.

I'm getting all new stuff.....I have to have this system running to get here ! So I will not be robbing screws.
So, I still need the heatsink / fan and two additional 3" fans one intake and one exhaust.
Wait ?..... you mean for us to do this at the same time ? NOPE...... I want you to be "experienced" https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
I am going to order the case and fans tomorrow. Maybe two or three other pieces. Then next week possibly the rest. So... by the time my case gets here I figger you might know what you're doin https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

greengoose !
Are you about ready ? I know you probably have been $$ for a while... I mean time wise ?

Hi misery, what components did you use, and after you booted up and started operating how crisp and sharp was everything? Glad it went together well for you. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
QoH, be cool, one step at a time, one of our goals is to build, another is to bring it up one time and be working with no glitches.
Train, Just what made you so sure I'd double check anyhoo? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ I'm beginning to believe there are shortcuts on top of shortcuts. Was looking into path/filenames earlier. No one talks about these to much. Mosaic got me to wondering about it. Oh well, made a note to myself to check into further some time. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
