I don't even know if www.pcinfinity.net is around anymore, I tried going to the website, and it seems to be unavailable. I bought a pcchips motherboard from them with a two year warranty, used it for five months, then it dies, also bought a 480 watt power supply from them and it died too. they won't replace either one. if their out of business, then these warranties of theirs are as good as dead.

The word warranty only have value, if it is backed up by a reputable company with a record of making good on all legitimate warranty situations.
IMO, if the policy that consumers follow is to always buy at the absolute lowest price, then one some of the items bought may be greyware or other types of scams. The fact that the product(s) has a "warranty" is just another component of the scam.
I have no way of knowing whether this fits your prior purchase decision or not.
When I am looking to purchase any type of hardware, applicance, etc. I want to know what the warranty process is? Is there a local facility, where I can swap out the defective product.
There are several low-end stores (Best Buy, Circuits City, Frys) that I do not shop at because they have business practices that not good consumer business practices.
I am sorry that you have encountered these problems but I think when we are making our purchase decisions, we have to always look out for all types of gotchas.
Cheers,
Linda

ECS I-Buddy4 A928
I have had my A928 for just over three years with absolutely no problems. I am waiting for them to start, but not holding my breath.
I have read all of the thread and am thankful that I have not had this problem yet, but I assume I will. When this happens, I am grateful to all who have gone before for paving the way to repair even if it is only temporary. I like the engineering that Menechem's friend did, but cannot fully understand how it works. I have had my A928 since Dec 2002 and no meltdowns have occured. I have read with interest the attempts to put a 7200 Rpm drive into this beast, and me thinks that maybe I won't. Anyone have good luck with an 80/100GB 5400 Rpm? I just upgraded to 1Gig of RAM the other day, and cannot see much of a performance increase. I do want more storage tho, and if nobody had really good luck without excess heat on the faster drives, then I will USB an external one. I love that I found this forum just when I needed it. I will not, however attempt to convince others to purchase this computer or indeed anything from ECS, even though I have not as yet had problems.
I agree with Linda who posted prior to this about quality parts getting good service, however, for myself, I am almost at the point that I will only purchase electronics products from manufacturers from whom I of friends have previously owned satisfactory products. As an example, I like Pioneer DVD burners, and so purchased a Home DVR with hard drive from Pioneer. All my friends who have Sony DVD burners have media compatibility problems, so I will not purchase a Viau even though I think the rest of the computer is quite good in this day of bad electronics. My son has a BenQ component and it is good, but another friend who is in the computer industry has had a LOT of problems with BenQ, and so I leave them alone. That same friend likes LG. Research on these forums is about the only thing that makes sense anymore. Sorry for the long post, but it covered two topics.
