Has this made any difference?
fwiw.....I haven't had any crashes in some time using FFox, and I have re-installed flashblock and it is enabled.Quote:

(Hope I haven't jinxed myself by posting this)...
Doesn't make any sense. The dual tags only existed in non-flash ads. They were never present for the flash ads. Different advertisers, different coders.
I'll give it a try and see what happens.
Disabling Ad-Block and Flashblock....now.
Well that lasted all of about 5 minutes :(
Have enabled flashblock again, but left ad-block off.
Will see how I go.
That's probably why you haven't had any crashes ?Quote:

Or was you problem the opposite of mine, ie you got the crashes when flashblock was enabled ?
I have flashblock enabled now and have uninstalled Adblock entirely.....and the crashes stopped.....now I will disable flashblock and we'll see...:)Quote:

so in your case flashblock is not a factor....it's all too confusing any more  ....it's about 20 min and all's well....think i'll enable flasblock again later.....cheers.Quote:

I must admit I have noticed that the majority of the times when I have retested this issue, it's when I go to a reply that Fx crashes so maybe there's something on the reply page that is the root of the problem.
As you say it's all getting too confusing.
Nix,
Try not watching pages while they load. I'm still getting occasional crashes, but like you it seems to be mostly when replying. If I let a page load in the background and then switch back, I seem to be alright.
hmmm ok will give that a go.
Yeah but you shouldn't have to do that. Just wish we could narrow it down even a little.
Just got a crash with only one tab open. It was just starting to render the Freescale / IBM / power.org ad. Blue guy and orange guy got drawn, then crash.
Unfortunately, the same ad is running fine while I type this.
Well so much for that. I have a sinking feeling we're not going to be able to track this down.
Yeah. My workaround using Flasblock and Adblock is working for me so.....
Might try this: In Firefox 1.5.0.1, under Tools | Options | ContentDisable (uncheck) Enable Java
Disable (uncheck) Enable JavaScript

Never once had FireFox crash here on VirtualDr.
Only one crash in about a month. Seems like the problem is at least better. My crash was while viewing a thread (not replying). It displayed the titlebar and crashed before the ad. But once a month is something I can handle. Kudos to the admins for your work!
---edit---
disable javascript? That's a bit of a harsh workaround, don't you think!?
Most ads are harsh ... and distracting, invasive, abusive, irritating, ... :)Quote:

If I need to access a site that uses them, or ActiveX, Flash and whatever else, (and I am reasonably certain that the site is safe), I simply jump over to Internet Explorer.
Works for me. :)
