Ok, folks... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ just spent the evening with more case mods. The only thing I got in the mail was the little case badge "Overclocked!PIII Inside"--looks cool on the little badge indentation on the front of the case. Added two fans on the left side panel, blowing IN onto the CPU area and vid card. Enlarged the stock air holes on the front bottom to 1/4". Train: Yes, I covered all the side vents. The object is to create a positive "pressure" inside the case---in other words, have a little more air coming IN than what's being exhausted; keeps it cooler. Well, according to my temp gauge (mounted ont the front of the case).. the system is now about 8 degrees cooler; CPU about 5 degrees cooler. Not bad.
So...that's 2 side fans (80mm), front intake fan (80mm--soon to be 120mm), two small fans near the hard drives blowing IN. Blow hole on top, rear fan and the power supply blowing OUT. Side vents covered (3M 6969 tape). Additional internal fans: nautilus-type pushing more intake air towards the vid card, hard drive (card) fan on bottom of slave drive. (I'm a real fan of fans, huh?)
Heater just kicked in and I notice that the system temp went up almost immediately almost two degrees---goes to show how ambient room temps so quickly affect the system. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Temp has stopped at 25 C (75 F).
Howz Dat?
Dat's Coooooooool!
I've been looking at all the modifications in the Galleries... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Have to tell ya without seeing what it was supposed to look like (wrapping those wires) I did a pretty dern good job. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Mine looks a whole lot better than most of theirs and just as good as the best!

Nite, greengoose. I'll be following suit here soon.
QoH: which galleries are you looking at? I'd like to take a peek, so when you start somethin' I won't be so shocked... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Here's a whole page with lots of um.
One even had a black and white cow case. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Virtual Hideout has a pretty good gallery. Some wild stuff in there---don't go and get real crazy now https://discussions.virtualdr.com/.
Must say goodnight now. OK...I will..."Goodnight". https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Good morning from Washington, DC. Temperatures in local area, 49 degrees. Temperature over the Capitol Building, 89 degrees from all the hot air rising.....

New rounded ATA cables are supposed to be in today. Also got a line on a camera. Will take some shots when I'm good and ready....er....when done with the mods---perhaps this weekend. Will work on explanatory notes off to the side of each pic and post them.
How good and ready do you need to be? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Well...I'm ready....but Mr. Postman's taking his own sweet bippy time gettin' the stuff here. Also ordered blue LED's to replace the amber ones on the front. Ooooooooooo... Also a double temp guage (have only a single right now)---will be modifying that with a switch so I can turn it off when not needed (runs off a battery that's always on). Will be installing a fan bus also to run 4 of the fans. (Cleans up all the plug clutter at the bottom of the case). It's similar to a speaker bus--just plug in the bare wires and use a single plug to connect the bus to a power supply line.
Then bistro will rest....
Maybe in the far flung future will put a window in it....

I'm having a window first(it is of the utmost importance)That may be my first attempt. But I think I'd like one of those digital thermometers, too, bistro. I keep worrying about that, and shutting down just to go in there and see what it is. I saw a case in one of the galleries that had one. I also saw the kind you said you used before-- CompuNurse --but I want one that's mounted in the case.
Some guy also used scotch brite (3M https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ ) scrubbies...the fine ones... as filters for his fans.
THIS is what I ordered. One probe hangs down into the middle of the case, the other you can stick into a fin at the bottom of the heat sink---DO NOT place it between the chip and heat sink--can cause damage. Will be adding a switch in between the two gauges to turn off and on. The one i have now has only one gauge.
