What I meant was to post this problem in VDr's "Internet Software" forum. Not saying that the tech/server dept at VDr isn't knowledgable, but they also run into "mind freezes". Why do you think all of us come to this forum??? It's very possible that someone on VDr's forums could help solve the problem, or don't you think this community of techs is capable???????
Sure they're capable, but the techs working on it have specific, exact knowledge of our system and setup. By the time everyone here was brought up to speed on exactly the way things are setup here, the problem may be found. Anyway if we were going to post it, the place to post this would really be a networking forum, rather than general PC troubleshooting.
Lots of problems are solved right here in these forums without "exact knowledge" of the system being troubleshooted.
OK, so post it in the "Networking" forum. Maybe you should bring the "Networking" gurus up to speed on this issue and give them a shot at ironing it out.

Feel free to post it. They'll asked questions about the system however which neither you nor I will be able to answer. I appreciate the concern and attempt to help, but it will be handled.

Because that would be taking them away from their jobs. That's not what I'm telling you at all. What I'm telling you is they're capable of handling it, and I don't have the information needed to troubleshoot it here on the forum, and they can't be torn away from what they're doing in order to do so.

:( Right On. No big problem here, just login then min window and go to some other site while VDR loads up or take a potty break or walk the dog.. Does not seem to be a big problem as the the three top adv banners load up fast. Some day perhaps they will get around to fixing the bug when they are not too busy with their jobs. :rolleyes:
PS: T1 at work and cable at home no difference for weeks now.
Just to satisfy the curiosity of an old man ;) , is there a technological reason why I have had no 'speed' problems accessing VDR, or going from page to page, using 'dial-up', when all you folks on the fast track of Cable/DSL/T1 are having all these 'speed' problems?

Honestly there could be a half dozen reasons for that. Slow downs can occur anywhere between you and a server, including at the server itself. But it can also be a bottle neck anywhere between you and it.
Poppy4, that's part of the problem which is making it tough to figure out. Some members don't have the speed problem.
It's also intermittent for me even when I do have speed issues with the board. One page load is normal speed, the next crawls.
JP and Steve, Thanks....I understand what you are saying. I guess it is just one more anomaly in the field of computing.
I also understand the 'need for speed', which is exemplified by 'overclocking'....but how fast is too fast?
I get to the VDR homepage usually in 20 seconds.
Page to page is usually about 10 seconds.
So until I opt to go for DSL or Cable, (if ever??)...I won't know what I'm missing?
...at any rate.....I can't see abandoning the best, and most civil learning site on the www....VDR......because of a few seconds.....but then that's just me....:D

Thanks poppy. I'm used to the pages loading in a second, sometimes 2, if I'm at home, about twice that at work. They're almost at that speed for me right now, but posting usually takes longer to submit. 6 to 8 seconds. That's about what I got right now as well.
