If enough air is introduced then Yes, that method can kill a person, but not very painlessly. The opposite in fact.

I was appauled when I saw the videos of Terri after her passing. I hadn't seen them before and when I saw a woman smiling and responding to those around her I stared in disbelief. And to think, she was starved to death.
yes evening star, you 'get it'.
lots of folks just don't seem to.
and/or it helps them sleep at night, i'm guessing.
what did she DO to deserve the death penalty ?
nothing, absolutely nothing.
the same crowd that did that to her....
will turn around and want to stop the death
penalty for a convicted murderer.
here's a clarification on 'starving to death'.
'you'really don't.
what you die of is...
dehydration if no fluids are given.
the blood turns to sludge, and clots. organs
are not perfused well if at all.
at the end... if any consciousness is present,
'you' may even feel the pain of a heart attack-
as the heart muscle is starved of blood circulation
from the clots.
terri lasted about twice as long as a person normally
would when dehydrated to death.
When people say she had no will to live, I think she did. If a person has lost his will to live, as one person in my church did, a cold will kill you in less time than it took Terri to actually pass on. I think that the fact that she survived 15 years indicated that she really had the will to live. Still think her husband is guilty of murder..... I would hate to be either the judge or her husband when they meet our maker.
