You know, I love MajorGeeks. But some of the software on there, like the registry dr. and stuff is that crap that finds 'errors' and then wants you to pay $$$ to register to fix them. A lot on MajorGeeks is good stuff, but sometimes there is some questionable listings IMHO.Quote:

I am logged in with AOL, so I launched FF......in Task Manager, the only thing using that amount of CPU on my pc was the System Idle Process.
I have Spywareguard running also.....though I couldn't find it in the list....maybe listed as something I'm not familiar with, however.
At least, that is what I have showing anyway.

I tried the Avant browser, just before finally getting Firefox. Took me all of 2 minutes to dump it.
I'm sure there are many here who keep a lot of bookmarks, and especially computer related ones. I've got a folder full of computer links, I dunno, maybe 3 hundred in it, which Avant imported along with the rest from IE.
So what does Avant do with it? It doesn't scroll through a single column, but covers the whole screen with 3 columns, even the browser bar and task bar, and there's no way to close it.
You wanna sell me on something? Show me you know what you're doing first. :rolleyes:

Anyone who reads that article and doesn't immediately put a stake through IE's heart deserves what happens to them.
Ok so I'm trying it, using NT at work.
Didn't import all my setttings as they musn't be in standard locations.
Also use a web application called WebIntelligence by BusinessObjects that doesn't work - keeps tellig me to enable cookies - when they already are.
However, they do asay they only support IE and Netscape.
Also use HPs iLo (integrated lights out) utility which requires IE5.5 or above so that doesn't function correctly either.
As a matter of interest, where do the cookies, history, favourites, TIF etc get stored ?
Also the window that you type this reply in is half the width in MF vs IE ?

An the scroll bars are standard gray instead of blue on the VDr site.
Nix, if you decide to stay with Firefox and get into the themes/skins, you'll notice some subtle differences.
I'm at the moment using a skin called Orbit Green. I like it because it complements the "Space" theme I've heavily tweaked, and because it, like some other skins, are transparent to the custom width setting of my scrollbar.
Some skins have a default scrollbar width, and/or their own color, depending on the whim and talent of the theme maker. An example of the latter would be "Luna Blue", a skin I gather to be pretty much based on XP.
There's also a theme that imitates fairly well IE5. :D

Got WebIntelligence working, installed the Sun Java 1.42 plugin which incidentally fixed the problem with iLo although it did display a warning saying that only IE5.5 and above were supported and some functionalit might be mising.
Also both these applications detect Mozilla as Netscape 5 ?
Found the cookies.txt file, history.dat, cache directory etc.
The half size window is the only outstanding thing.
