Now that would be something to see:)
Calpitor, I read the whole post that Channy posted. It still sounds like he wants us to do his homework for him. He states he can't use technicians as a lot of us here are that lets us out of the equation.
And if everyone was a moderator, then there'd be no VDR because of this type issue it would soon be closed.
We seem to be getting bogged down in piece meal details not relevant to the original post :
BitTorrent is a P2P piece of software whatever its design it is much used for the piracy of software as are other P2P applications thus they contravene the forum rules to discuss in detail.
Moderators are chosen by their willingness to help others on this forum and usually with no repayment for their time spent here and very seldom get a nod, wink or thank you from those same people.Quote:
Is is possible for the moderators to stand back for five seconds
Working in an environment long enough can sometimes give you second sight as to whats going on and I'm sure no offence is intended when a thread is closed but it is for the good of the forum as a whole to continue this way.
There are several hundred forums accessible out on the internet.
This particular one is FREE to access, with members giving their own free time attempting to answer computer related questions but it has an applied set of rules governed by those who pay for its upkeep.
As has been said already you are free to come and go but if you stay you live by the rules applied.
I believe Bart Simpson would have a good retort to end the response but I am not he.
Howdy:
I've been here for a short time and the one thing I have noticed when compared to other forums I belong to is the willingness of the Mod to close a thread that they feel may end up headed in the wrong direction (ie: KaZaa and BitTorrent or any P2P sharing programs)..
Guess you could say I am one of the closed-minded as I take BJ's stance on most of these.. I see a thread requesting help with any P2P program and I either leave it alone or, I use an option that anyone has on another site I go to, I "Red-Flag" it .. This then allows a Mod on that site to check the post to see if it meets the sites requirements or not..
As for the RIAA not suing anyone for down-loading music, whomever posted that should talk to the 12 year old that was sued and settled for a $2000 fine for downloading copywritten material.. (songs)..

You read it? It doesn't appear so. He was looking for someone to interview.Quote:

But I hope I can get some detailed answers on how it affects your working and personal-home uses.
Hope I was in enough detail above, and also hope someone out there can help me.

I am just doing a kind of survey but sometimes i might need to ask you some more questions to get a much more detailed answer.
I don't think it will take too much of anyones time, it would sometimes just be a few short answers, sometimes a little longer for detail.
But the report Is written by me. hope you's can help. Thanks
How does that sound like he's asking for someone to do his work for him? He was looking for people to take part in his survey. Creating, performing, culminating results then creating a report from surveys was and is part of a business related curriculum.
As far as everyone being a moderator please reread my post! Where did I suggest everyone be a moderator? I said that perhaps of the ones who are mods perhaps they are too taxed for time or they have become rather jaded.

Murray the people being sued are being sued for having music available for download, or in simpler terms the MP3s they downloaded remained in their shared folder available for all to download. If you think I'm splitting hairs it is only because it is there to be split. If you want a more clear explanation perhaps you should do a little more research on the subject.Quote:

As to P2P thats already been covered more than enough.
Put your wooden spoon away for another day.
I've got to agree with 104456. The mods here have to make judgement calls. Most of the time I agree with them, occasionally I don't - but I always respect their decision. In that respect the mods are like referees/umpires in a sporting match, they have to make a decision, ant that should be that (and if there's one thing that £$%^es me off, it's so-called "sportsmen" who whine and whinge every time the ref rules against them). The refs / mods decision is final.
I've never used any P2P apps myself, so I'm not in a position to help anyway. I honestly don't know how I feel about them either, they undoubtedly can be used legally, and undoubtedly they often aren't. But I think on the whole it would be best if we didn't deal with them, and said so in the AUP - that way we all know where we stand. Surely there are support forums for these P2P apps that people could go to for help?
Im sure there are too but we are not allowed to post such links :DQuote:

Calpitor:
Maybe you should tell that to Fox News then as well as the other thousand or so news outlets that reported on it..
12-Year-Old Sued for Music Downloading
If you're one of the remaining 260 defendants targeted in lawsuits by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for music piracy on the Internet, don't count on being bailed out of your jam by P2P United.
The group, which represents major file-sharing sites on the Net, has pledged to pay the US$2,000 settlement in the case of a 12-year-old Manhattan honor student targeted by the RIAA for illegally downloading music .
Story HERE
Nuff said as this is going "off topic" !!
Murray
Probably the excuse some people are waiting for to say"there you are its closed again":DQuote:

I believe all questions have been more than reasonably answered and dismissed with good reasonable logic so I see no further need at this time to respond within the confines of the question possed at the outset.
Do you really think that kid knew it was Illegal? probably not.Quote:

and how about that couple the RIAA tried to sue, and they didn't even have a computer! I'm getting tired of this RIAA fiasco! If they Keep up this Bull sh*t, I may move to CANADA, WHERE THERE IS NO RIAA.
Careful Oilpatch it's cold up here. While there isn't an RIAA we do have a toothless and clawless version though. They were firmly put in their place last month by our Supreme Court.
Oops there I go off topic again.
I would just like to suggest that there will be much less anguish and headache for everybody involved if the mod's will include a short one-liner to explain why a post/thread is being edited, closed or deleted.
Members get personal when their posts/threads are edited, closed or deleted b/c it is personal. Members who know what they post are "illegal" usually just go away quitely when they are "caught." No problems here. A lot of times, though, people just misunderstand each other. In such a case when a mod. edited, closed or deleted a post/thread w/o any explanation the member will feel slighted and disrespected. By including a short explanation you give the member a chance to clear things up. We all deserve the benefit of the doubt, don't we?
A lot of times members get angry not so much b/c a post/thread is edited, closed or deleted but more b/c they are assumed guilty without given a chance to depend themselves.
Not long ago one of my post got edited b/c a mod. thought that I was being rude. No explanation was offered in the thread and I felt disrespected b/c I was not being rude in my opinion (I sent a PM to BJ and he didn't think that I was rude either and he saw no reason for the mod to edit my post.) Had the mod. told me his reason for editing my post I would had simply post back to clear thing up instead of getting all angry.
People misunderstand each other all the time and we get angry with each other b/c we won't communicate.
Yet he didn't respond with his questionaire.Quote:

I realize all the mods have demands on their time and having to actually read an entire post rather than assume that previous response from another moderator was correct but if they actually did a proper response might actually be yeilded.

He/she was trying it on, wanting for someone else to do it for him/her, being underhanded in each post and unfortunately I believe you may have fallen for it.
