I just mean, who is it being built for? who is going to keep the final product?
I would go back and read all that...but I've built PC's before...even though I'm sure there is stuff there I should read...I'm good https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
you said built in real time...are you reserving a chat channel somewhere? or using a webcam?
or does that just mean that you are going to install something, then post about it...
just trying to get specifics here...
I've always kept an eye on the threads, but never bothered to post...

Zam....I too have built several computers for both myself and customers as well...I have read through 26 of the 33 installments of the Original Delta and I learn something new from these guys every day....All of the Delta Crew know their stuff...some have more specialized areas of knowledge Like JtDoom (jaak) and then there are the ones that are just picking it up as they go...like QoH and Goose...who I have seen answer some very interesting posts both on this board and a few others...he has picked up alot over the past year. All that is left now is the practical build of BT because I am sure that goose has built his dream machine in his head every night for the past year since that first post of the original Delta and when October 26 comes around all that will be left is to mount the board and insert the cards into the appropriate slots and load the O.S. and start enjoying the fruits of the labor....because he has done all the hard work already. He has learned and became more knowledgeable than he was the first day he came here as we all have I am sure. <soap box is now open>

The Gforce base video cards are more for gamer type stuff.
Might want to look at them as I believe they will walk circles around the Savage cards.
Forgot to mention this the other night.

First-build Hebbe Jeebes?
I definitely have that. In fact its so bad that I never actually did it, I changed my mind about halfway. I don't have the money for parts anyhow. I've never spent more than $10 on a computer part (see below)
Computer stuff that I tried to do but didn't work:
- An RS-232 serial cable in attempt to use Direct Cable Connect to transfer files to my new computer, which did not work, continues to not work, and probably will never work. But I threw away the box, and it was a long time ago, so I can't return it.
- A Pentium Overdrive chip for $10 at a yard sale, which I tried to put in my 486 but it didn't work, just sat there and didn't show anything on the screen. The fan on the P-OD chip worked, but nothing else. I was able to put the old chip back thank god, but I can't remember what happened to the chip. I know I installed it right, I read the directions about a kazillion times (This was one of my first upgrade attempts)
- A CD-ROM (from my now-uncle after he upgraded--which of course went just fine and dandy) that I put on my 486. It's the most annoying thing because every once in a while it works, like once a month. Tried a new IDE ribbon for it ($6.95) but it still didn't work. I replaced it with another CD-ROM that I got in a computer from my aunt(another 486)
- The other CD-ROM worked okay for a while but it would only reconize the disc that was in it when it booted up, and was annoying in general. Then it caused the computer to lock up on startup, so I detached it.
- A 2GB Quantum drive I bought off of my brother for $10 didn't work. I tried installing it on my 486 but it turns out I need a SCSI controller card. The odds of me buying one are pretty slim https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Do you SEE why I might be a little teensey bit nervous about making my own comp?

Imagine. I named myself after an outdated programming language.
My psychology: If your computer is faster than mine (PI 75 Mhz, 24MB RAM), you have ABSOLUTELY no right to complain.

Train what is your opinion of This Card
-
That is the brand I had looked at. Looks good, but JAL is the ATI person in the forum.
Must admit it does look interesting though.
Also, know some of the ATI cards can use nvidia drivers. That is about all though.
Best I can do https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

No problem there, logowriter. Build-yourself systems using "yard sale" parts can be a real bear, and often turn out less than expected---not for the fainthearted. Believe me, I know from personal experience. Better to save up, get new, quality parts. Then, with a little homework/tutoring, building your own system can be a very good experience--and probably not quite a difficult as you may imagine--just takes a little studying.

Zam1el and logowriter, I was about to give up on computers when I found VirDr. Through the help I received, I was able to get my computer, a Compaq running, and then in talking with the Queen of Hearts we decided to build with Bistro's and Train's help. I was delayed money wise due to a family situation that came up, but the Queen of Hearts was not and she built and brought up a computer without a hitch with the help she received. Then Train built JR. Finally I was able to get the funds together and here we are. I had to wait a year but I had set a goal to do this. The Delta Threads have helped alot of people and more people are now building. We now keep the thread going to help others if and when they need it.

Remember, there is always something we forgot to ask.
And, it's only FREE advice!

-
Good Morning All,
Jaak, https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/. ROFLOL. I will try to answer. Simplex, in computer language indicates something is single channel. Duplex would be two channels, and complex would be where everything was housed.
