"Mentor:...now THAT is something I've never been called. If that's the case, I'm surprised GG hasn't been committed to Bozo's Funny Farm yet... :D
But thanks for the compliment anyway, GG. :)
Greengoose, does that mean you're paying Bistro $50.00 a month too?
Heavens no. One does not pay a mentor anything. :D
But there is a point here that new members can learn from older members. It can be a heck of a resource. And I believe that ties the members together. I can name alot of members from three four years ago that are not participating at present but helped alot of people back then that moved on as is their right to do other things or maybe this site didn't have what was needed to keep their interest. Who knows? That can also be reversed. Just depends on what we do IMHO.
I thought they all worked for Gateway / Dell / HP / insert other big brand company customer support ?Quote:

What's Next! I Wonder!!
Hi All, Two things that has been talked about in this thread - Long term member participation and Email Members who have not been around. I took the liberty of starting a dialog with the other moderators in the Mod Forum as they have been busy and might not be aware of the details in this voluminous thread.
I have also started going through this thread for the ideas and suggestions that all members have contributed and try to organize them so to be able to work with them more easily. We need to see what we have.
Should this be put in spreadsheet form for easier use? What's your thoughts and ideas on handling this data?
Just a list of the salient points. I look at spreadsheets all day long...one more will drive me over the edge.
*!*.....no.....wait.....that happened a long time ago. Ok then....go ahead and do whatever's best.
Hi GreenGoose1,
Excel is the way to go, if you are planning to do an entry for every substantive post because you can sort in Excel.
If that is not the plan, then I think doing it in Word in a table format would work the best but since you are the creator of this document, this is obviously your choice.
This is a great idea that you have and I applaud your initiative in getting this information compiled in an organized way.
Cheers,
Linda
:o
Well, I read page 1 and 37, so I'm sure that I missed quite a bit of the meat of this discussion  but I'll tack my $.02 here as well.
I've been a member of V-Dr for several years, but most of the time spent here was while I was a work and was simply bored. Lately I have far les time to spend on here. Many problems that are posted seem to be repetitive - and, if memory serves, the last few problems that I posted for myself received few if any replies, and never actually were resolved.
Personally, I find myself just doing a Google search for most computer questions and finding answers in a few clicks... I hate to say it, but it's a lot easier than searching through forums such as V-Dr only to find ten people who posted the same problem, and then trying to find the one thread that was actually resolved...
BUT it sounds like things are back on track here, I doubt I'll be around any more than I have been, but it's good news nonetheless :)
I second the part about seaching the thread.I think it would be alot easier if we put our problem in the title instead of something like" help".That might make searching easier so that we dont keep reposting UNLESS what has been said doesn't work for us.And yes I am one of those people who use to put "help" in the title instead of the problem and never realized that wasnt helping until I had to search. But I also have had problems that have not been sloved and I ended up reinstall or erasing everything.I still think VDR is the best out there.
I have to agree with Spragers2's observations and add my own. Many time a question is answered with another question. Did you do this or that? Was your coffee sitting to the left or right of your monitor? This type of answer is flusterating to the person asking the question. Personally, if I don't have an idea of what the problem is I don't answer.
Well those may seem like meaningless questions to ask but in fact, quite the contrary, they're usually crucial. If posters posted complete info in their 1st post, they wouldn't be necessary, but then if they knew the info that was needed they might not even need help with the issue to begin with
Wondering if it is possible to add a 'fill in box'.. (required** maybe).... similar to the 'Title:' at the top, when a new post is made, that asks for the OS/versions,etc. of the pc with the problem?Quote:
