Yeah ! Let's do it!
No, let's not... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Not familiar with your BIOS--a wrong setting could easily burn up your vid, sound card and RAM, not to mention the processor. When you overclock the processor, you are also overclocking everything else unless your BIOS (Soft Menu) allows for compensation (i.e. reduce the bus freq of your AGP, etc.). To do something like that, it would be best to have a copy of your BIOS settings in order to determine if your BIOS will support that type of operation. Pretty sure yours can, but unless you get it right----zzzzzzzapppp! I do know your vid card can be overclocked, that processor can, etc. Perhaps be able to get around 900 out of it. Awful risky though without proper cooling (extra fans).
Just did a check: without changing the multiplier (probably locked anyway on that chip), but changing the FSB, you could theoritically get 975 out it. No higher. Again, you gotta have the proper cooling, etc. before attempting this. Also, be willing and prepared to have to replace the processor, etc. in Kayse Anyfing Goze Rrong...
https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ I am flying fast enuf, believe me. I cannot imaging being able to see any difference. So, as long as I'd have to buy a new processor if I screwed up...Might as well buy a bigger one when I think I have a need for speed.
By then... they'll have a 2Gig anyways.
I'll just be workin' on my mental telepathy in the mean time. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
You never did tell me if it was possible to get the Connection window to have a sound...
Wait ! Don't tell me !
...mmmbbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzz
OK, just checked back throught the posts here. Mosaic1, I think she's referring to bringing up a choice of sound(s) when the browser connects---the option is not in the Sounds Panel. Seems I saw a reg hack for that too a long time ago.
Mosaic and bistro,
In the sounds that bistro sent, there are a couple for Connect and disconnect. I wondered what they were for, so I looked in the Sounds in the Control panel. No listing for connect or disconnect. Is there someplace to make those sounds work for that besides those Sounds in the Control panel ?
I have Desktop Architect but it's not listed there either.
So if I have named the icon for MY CONNECTION
..."Get On The Net" then is that what I will name this new key ? Or use the one it is called in the folder (My Connection)?
Will the sound happen when the two little computers drop to the tray ? Or when I click on the icon to dial up ?
https://discussions.virtualdr.com/It's there!!! I used MyConnection Haven't tried it yet. I used the subkey for Minimize which I figure is what happens when it connects and drops to the tray...or maybe RestoreDown?
We shall see...... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
No sound. I'm still trying. Maybe I am picking the wrong thing to name it? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Afternoon folks.
Always connected, so will not use it. Plus the first time this critter screams at the wife, no best to leave that alone. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Safer for me, that way. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

QoH: Lots of utilities out there that'll assign sounds to Windows events that don't normally appear in the Sounds Panel. One I've used in the far-flung past is "ICON-Hear-It". Enables Animated icons on the desktop also. Be forewarned--those animated desktop icons chew up a bit of RAM. It's a fun program, but only if you have enough RAM to spare. HERE
Thanks bistro ! Morning.
Just sent this to Mosaic before I got "here".
The last thing I tried before shutting down last night was the RNAAPP and I didn't even try to reconnect. This morning when I opened the wwbbs to connect I got my sound !!! Now it still didn't do what I wanted (when it actually drops and connects) but I am still at it. One other one that has to do with the connection is called tapisrv
Sometimes when I end task on RNAAPP then Ctrl/Alt/Del again tapisev has (not responding) beside it. So I know it is in there somewhere.
And I'm not sure which one of those is the one that is what happens when it drops either. I could subkey several and put a different sound on each then if I do accidently hit it I'll know.
I will go see about these now bistro. Thanks. I got plenty of RAM https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Not sure where that "connection" wav came from--just picked it up somewhere. Not sure exactly if it's available to place that sound when the system actually connects. Like Mosaic1 said, it may have to be an actual program (*.exe). Try downloading that Icon-Hear-it program and try it out. I know it has a feature where, when your mail comes in, you can have female/male voice, chipmunk, robot, etc. etc. say "You've got Mail!" or a recorded message by you. Mine yells "READ YOUR MAIL, STUPID!!!" (not really....) https://discussions.virtualdr.com/. Be aware though, when the program is installed, it automatically assigns default sounds to just about any command on the system---kinda irritating. You have to go into the program and turn off all unwanted sounds--takes a while. They're fun to play with, but after a while you may want to be more selective. Had a HAL voice on mine a long time ago (from the movie 2001). Spooky voice saying "Hello Dave" on bootup, on errors: "Sorry, but I've detected a fault in the 345 memory chip", etc. Drove the wife crazy; had to turn it off. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Whenever you record your own wav's for this purpose, put them into Windows\Media to make them available. Not sure which folder holds the Icon-Hear-It wavs.
Uh-oh....I know what QoH is doin'....sitting there deleting sounds from her download of that program.....playin' with animated icons...
https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Now bistro! You can't be practicin' your telepathy ! You have more RAM than me, so speculation should not be necessary. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
I looked for the free trial but didn't find one. I also looked in the forum to see about it and the free trial is mentioned. I found THIS too. But it didn't do the dial up. I emailed the guy (he said to in the read me https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ ) and will wait to hear what he says.
In the mean time, https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ I did assign the close sound to RNAAPP and it works too, but only when I actually End Task in Ctrl/Alt/Del on the RNAAPP. And if I disconnect and reconnect the open does not make a sound if RNAAPP is still in the "End Task" Window.
